PEMIKIRAN PENDIDIKAN H.A.R. TILAAR DALAM PERSPEKTIF PROGRESIVISME

Masyarakat suatu bangsa memperoleh pengetahuan, semisal dari mana asal-usul dan tujuan hidupnya melalui pendidikan. Kesadaran akan arti penting pendidikan dapat menentukan kualitas kesejahteraan dan masa depan masyarakat. Tanpa pendidikan, bisa dipastikan manusia akan kehilangan arah dan tujuan hidup. H.A.R Tilaar menafsirkan fungsi pendidikan sebagai agen perubahan. Proses pendidikan harus berjalan secara demokratis, menghormati hak anak didik dan bersifat transformatif. Fungsi pendidikan sebagai pembawa nilai-nilai keterbukaan dan toleransi merupakan salah satu bahasan dalam filsafat pendidikan aliran progresivisme. Penelitian ini menjadikan pemikiran pendidikan Tilaar sebagai objek material dan filsafat pendidikan aliran progresivisme sebagai objek formal untuk membaca dan memahami karakter pendidikan progresif yang dirumuskan Tilaar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah hermeneutika filosofis dengan objek utama pemikiran pendidikan Tilaar. Pendekatan yang ditempuh terhadap Tilaar menggunakan model penelitian historis faktual untuk membaca pemikiran beliau menggunakan dalam perspektif progresivisme. Adapun unsurunsur metodis yang digunakan ialah hermeneutika, induksi-deduksi, koherensi intern dan deskripsi reflektif untuk meninjau hakikat pendidikan sebagai unsur penting dalam kebudayaan, fungsi pendidikan dan relasi guru murid dalam proses pendidikan. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijelaskan sebagai berikut: Tilaar merumuskan visi dan misi pendidikan nasional dengan mencari hakikat pendidikan itu sendiri serta memikirkan bagaimana fungsi elemen-elemen pendukung dalam proses pembelajaran seperti guru, murid, sekolah dan kurikulum dapat saling berinteraksi dengan harmonis dan pemikiran ini sangat sejalan dengan pokok-pokok utama dalam filsafat pendidikan aliran progresivisme. Akhirnya dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemikiran pendidikan Tilaar memiliki corak aliran progresivisme karena dasar-dasar utamanya sangat mencerminkan semangat keterbukaan dan kritis.
Education is a key factor for building the civilization of a nation. Society acquires the knowledge about its origin and purpose of life through education. Awareness of the importance of education can determine the quality of well-being life and the future of society. Without education, people will lose orientation and purpose in life. H.A.R Tilaar interprets the function of education as an agent of change. According to him, education process must be democratic, respectful to the rights of students and has a transformative character. The function of education as a carrier of values of openness and tolerance is one of the topics in the philosophy of progressive education. This study uses Tilaar's thoughts on education as a material object and the concept of progressivism in philosophy of education as a formal object to understand the character of progressive education as formulated by Tilaar. The method used in this study is hermeneutics with Tilaar's thoughts of education as the main object. The approach being used over Tilaar's thoughts were pursued with factual and historical method to read Tilaar�s thoughts using the concept of progressivism in philosophy of education.The methodical elements being used in this research are hermenutics, induction-deduction, internal coherence and reflective description to review the nature of education as an important element in culture, the function of education and the relationship between student and teacher in education process. The research�s result can be pointed out as follows: Tilaar formulates the vision and mission of national education by looking nature of education itself, and consider how the function of supporting elements in the learning process, such as teachers, pupils, schools and the curriculum can interact harmoniously and this thinking is in line with the main points in the philosophy of progressive education. It can be concluded that the educational thinking of Tilaar has the style of progressivism because its basics idea highly reflects the spirit of openness and critical philosophy. This also shows that the idea Tilaar has relevance in the preparation of education policy in Indonesia.
