ANALISA KERUSAKAN SCREW PRESS PADA PROSES PENGOLAHAN CRUDE PALM OIL

Industri pengolahan minyak kelapa sawit saat ini berkembang sangat pesat terbukti dengan banyaknya pembukaan lahan untuk perkebunan kelapa sawit. Industri pengolahan ini mempunyai banyak peralatan utama untuk mendukung prosesnya. Screw press merupakan salah satu mesin yang digunakan untuk memisahkan minyak dari daging buah untuk diolah lebih lanjut menjadi Crude Palm Oil. Dalam penerapannya, mesin ini sering terjadi kerusakan yang disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari jenis-jenis kerusakan yang terjadi pada mesin screw press. Selain itu juga menentukan faktor penyebab dan memberikan solusi untuk mengurangi kerugian yang diderita oleh perusahaan. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan didapat kesimpulan bahwa kerusakan yang terjadi pada mesin screw press antara lain kebocoran pada seal bearing, kerusakan pada worm screw, kerusakan pada bearing, dan beberapa kerusakan lain. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang menjadi penyebab kerusakan, antara lain kelebihan beban, kebersihan yang kurang dijaga, dan kelalaian karyawan saat mengoperasikan mesin. Cara untuk mengurangi kemungkinan terjadinya kerusakan yaitu dengan menjalankan SOP pengoperasian mesin dengan benar dan selalu menjaga kebersihan di daerah mesin.

Industry of palm oil processing at this time is growing rapidly, proved by amount of land clearing for palm estate. This industry has many main equipments for supporting it's process. Screw press is one of equipment which used for separate palm oil from mesocarp for further processing become Crude Palm Oil. In this case, this equipment often failured that caused by several factors. The aim of this study was for determine the type of failure which occured at screw press. Beside that, also find out the factors that caused the failure and give some solutions to reduce company losses. Based on the result of study, could be concluded that the screw press failures were bearing seal leakage, damage of worm screw, damage of bearing, and others failures. There were some factors that caused the failures, there were overload, lack of cleanliness, and carelesness of the workers when operated equipments. Ways for reduced failures possibility were done the SOP of equipment operating correctly and kept clean the around equipment.
