Excavator adalah salah satu peralatan yang membantu pekerjaan manusia. Excavator digerakkan oleh sistem hidrolik yang menggerakkan upperstructure dan undercarriage. Oli hidrolik bertekan didistribusikan oleh pompa utama di upperstructure, dan center joint di undercarriage. Metode pertama yang digunakan dalam laporan ini adalah pemahaman sastra. Data yang diperoleh diambil dari pemahaman literatur yang mengacu pada masalah. Kedua, metode observasi. Metode ini diambil ketika melakukan praktek kerja industri. Metode terakhir adalah wawancara, dengan mengajukan pertanyaan tentang masalah-masalah yang sering terjadi kepada karyawan yang berpengalaman di bidangnya. Center joint adalah salah satu komponen utama pada penggerak excavator. Jika center joint pecah, minyak hidrolik dari upperstructure ke undercarriage akan terganggu dan akan menyebabkan gangguan pada operasi travelling. Kebocoran eksternal, kebocoran internal dan kontaminasi adalah masalah utama yang sering terjadi pada center joint. Tapi, masalah tersebut dapat diminimalisir dengan melakukan tindakan preventif dan pemeliharaan seperti pemilihan hidrolik minyak dan pemeliharaan, pemeliharaan preventif, dan operasi unit benar. Ketika perawatan dan pengobatan yang dilakukan dengan baik, excavator akan dapat bekerja lebih efektif dan efisien.

Excavator is one of equipments that helps human�s job. Excavator is driven by hydraulic system which is driving the upperstructure and undercarriage. Pressured hydraulic oil distributed by main pump at the upperstructure, and center joint at undercarriage. The first method used in this report is the understanding of literature. The data obtained is taken from the understanding of the literature that refers to the problem. Secondly, the method of observation. This method was taken when doing industrial work practices. The last method is the interview, by asking questions about the problems that often occur to employees who are experienced in their field. Center joint is one of main components at excavator drive. If center joint broke, hydraulic oil from upperstructure to undercarriage will be disturbed and will cause disturbance on travel motor operation. External leak, internal leak, and contamination are the main problems that often happen on center joint. But, those problems can be minimalized by doing preventive action and maintenance such as hydraulic oil selection and maintenance, preventive maintenance, and operating the unit properly. When maintenance and treatment are well done, excavator will be able to work more effectively and efficiently.
