Dalam dunia konstruksi atau dalam suatu proyek pada umumnya terdiri dari beberapa proses pekerjaan besar, yaitu : Proses Perencanaan, Proses Pelaksanaan dan Proses Pengawasan. Quantity Surveyor adalah sebuah profesi yang mempunyai keahlian dalam perhitungan volume , penilaian pekerjaan konstruksi, administrasi kontrak sedemikian sehingga suatu pekerjaan dapat dijabarkan dan biayanya dapat diperkirakan, direncanakan, dianalisa, dikendalikan, dan dipercayakan. Quantity Surveyor memiliki peran di dalam pelaksanaan proyek konstruksi khususnya dalam proyek dengan jenis kontrak unit price. Untuk menghitung volume pekerjaan struktur itu diperlukan seorang yang ahli dalam bar bending schedule karena pekerjaan ini dibutuhkan ketelitian dalam menghitung. Hasil perhitungan awal tidak semua disetujui oleh pihak Owner. Dalam proses perhitungan volume pekerjaan diperlukan berbagai tahapan sebelum mendapat persetujuan dari pihak Owner.
