Penggunaan spray aerator pada proses isolasi zat warna alami indigo dari tanaman tom (Indigofera tinctoria Linn)

Isolasi zat warna alami indigo pada Industri kecil masih menggunakan proses sederhana dan lebih dominan memanfaatkan tenaga manusia terutama pada proses tradisional kebur (aerasi). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memberikan solusi untuk mempermudah proses isolasi zat warna alami indigo dengan membuat spray aerator sebagai pengganti alat kebur dan mempelajari pengaruh penggunaannya terhadap konsentrasi warna yang dihasilkan. Bahan baku yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah tanaman Tom (Indigofera tinctoria Linn) yang berupa daun segar dan konsentrasi larutan yang optimal adalah 40 gram kapur tohor untuk 1 kg bahan baku. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa spray aerator pada proses isolasi zat warna alami indigo meningkatkan efektifitas dan kualitas produksi zat warna alami indigo. Konsentrasi warna tertinggi (49,77 mg/100ml) melalui proses tradisional (kebur) dicapai pada menit ke 80, jika menggunakan spray aerator, konsentrasi wana tertinggi (91,18 mg/100ml) pada menit ke 40. Operasi spray aerator dengan kecepatan aliran 4,025 m/dt (tekanan absolut 1,08 atm) memperoleh konsentrasi warna rata-rata sebesar 88,27 mg/100ml dan kenaikan rata-rata konsentrasi warna dibandingkan dengan proses aerasi tradisional (kebur) adalah sebesar 127,32%.

Nowadays indigo natural dye aeration process still operated traditionally and hence employs human power. The objective of this research is to give solution in the natural dye become easier by making spray aerator as a substitute device of traditional aeration (kebur) tool. This research also studied the influence of spray aerator in the indigo natural dye extraction. Row material used in this research was fresh leaf of tom plant (Indigofera tinctoria Linn) and lame powder (CaO) dosage wich led to optimum result is 40 gram for 1 kg row material. The result showed that spray aerator in the process of indigo natural dye extraction is an effective technology as one of the efforts to increase effectiveness of the indigo natural dye extraction quality. Time taken to get the maximum concentration of the indigo naatural dye by the traditional tool is 80 minutes (49,77 mg/100ml). While the spray aerator needs 40 minutes (91,18 mg/100ml). The operation of the spray aerator on the 4,025 m/s velocity (1,08 atm absolute pressure) get average concentration of the indigo natural dye at 88,27 mg/100ml, there is significant increase from the average of the traditional tool process (38,83 mg/100ml) till 127,32% .
