Perilaku orang tua murid dalam memilih Taman Kanak-kanak berbasis Agama :: Studi kasus pada TK Budi Mulia Dua Pandeansari Yogyakarta

Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui fenomena tentang pendidikan berbasis agama dengan fokus perhatian pada bagaimana perilaku masyarakat, dalam hal ini orang tua murid, memilih Taman Kanak-kanak (TK) berbasis agama, serta faktor-faktor yang mempengarui pengambilan keputusan untuk memilihnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan di TK Budi Mulia Dua Pandeansari (BMDP), Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Responden penelitian ini adalah orang tua murid, pengurus Yayasan Budi Mulia Dua, kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, guru dan karyawan. Data penelian ini dikumpulkan melalui observasi, kuesioner, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Data tersebut dianalisis dengan teknik deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan TK tersebut dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang sosial dan ekonomi orang tua murid. Orang tua yang anaknya belajar di Kelompok Bermain (KB) Budi Mulia Dua cenderung mudah mengakses informasi tentang TK BMDP melalui sesama orang tua murid. Karena KB dan TK di bawah satu yayasan, informasi juga dapat mereka akses lewat brosur-brosur yang tersedia di KB sebagai sarana promosi TK. Orang tua siswa yang tidak menyekolahkan anaknya di KB tersebut cenderung mendapatkan informasi tentang TK BMDP melalui media tidak resmi seperti arisan, temu warga, dan pengajian. Proses sosial terjadi secara tidak formal dengan dialog sederhana melalui para tetangga, saudara atau teman yang telah terlebih dahulu memilik pengalaman di TK tersebut. Ada beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi orang tua murid memilih TK Budi Mulia Dua Pandeansari. Di antaranya adalah figur tokoh agama yang dianggap sebagai ‘pemilik’ TK, yang menjadi daya tarik kuat bagi masyarakat. Selain itu, ada faktor akademik dan non-akademik. Faktor akademik dilihat dari titik berat yang lebih pada kualitas dan keseimbangan materi pelajaran agama dan pengetahuan umum yang diajarkan, sedangkan faktor non-akademik ditilik dari tersedianya berbagai macam fasilitas, manajemen, pengajar dan kegiatan ekstra kurikuler.

This research study was aimed at investigating a phenomenon about a form of religion-based education with a focus on the behaviour of society members in general, or students’ parents in particular, in choosing a religionbased preschool and factors influencing the decision making in the choice. The study was conducted at the Budi Mulia Preschool, Pandeansari, Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta, using the qualitative approach. Research respondents were students’ parents, board members of the Budi Mulia Dua Foundation, the headmaster, the vice headmaster, teachers, and adminisrative staff members. The data were collected through observation, a questionnaire, indepth interviews, and documents. The data were analyzed using the descriptive qualitative technique. Research findings showed that the choice of the Budi Mulia Dua Preschool was very much influenced by the social and economic backgrounds of studnets’ parents. Parents whose children attended the Budi Mulia Play Group tended to access the information about the Budi Mulia Dua Preschool through their peer parents sending their children to this play group. Because the Play Group and the Preschool are under the same foundation, they could also access the information through brochures, serving as a promotion medium, available at the Play Group. Parents who did not send their children to the Budi Mulia Dua Play Group tended to optain the information about the Budi Mulia Dua Preschool through informal media such as a raffle, a meeting, and a religious activity. A social process took place unintentionally through conversations with their neighbours, relatives or friends having sent their children to the Preschool previously. There were some factors influencing parents’ choice of the Budi Mulia Dua Preschool for their children. One of them was a religious figure supposed to be the ‘owner’ of he Preschool, which made society members strongly attracted in this preschool. In addition, there were academic and non-academic factors. The academic facor included the emphasis on the quality of and the balance between the religious content and the general knowledge content in the subject maters, whereas the non-academic factor comprised the avalilability of a variety of facilities, teaching management, and extra curricular activities.
