Human intervention and natural dynamics in forests cause dynamics of land cover changes that affect forest planning and management decisions. One of the important aspects of modeling land cover change is the preparation of data, in the form of land cover maps. One of the reasons for the uncertainty of the cover change model is the inaccuracy of the land cover map. The uncertainty of the change model needs to be quantified so that users of the information on cover changes do not ignore the factors that cause cover changes, however, this is still rarely done, including in the analysis of land cover changes at KHDTK UGM. This study aims to quantify the uncertainty of land cover changes in KHDTK UGM from 1996-2021. Analysis was carried out using Landsat imagery acquired in 1996, 2000, 2006, 2016, and 2021. The land cover classification was carried out using the random forest (RF) algorithm amd then the land cover maps were overlard to get land cover changes. Uncertainty analysis was carried out in each period so that the adjustment area was obtained for 6 classes of cover change, namely Stable Forest (SF), Stable Shrub (SS), Forest Gain (FG), Forest Degradation (FD), Deforestation (Df), and Stable Non-Forest (SNF) by taking considering the degree of misclassification. The results showed that the value of uncertainty tends to be low in the class that did not experience change. However, in the SS class, the uncertainty value is relatively high, 33% in the 2006-2016 period. The high uncertainty value is FG of 59% in the period 1996-2000 and FD of 36% in the period 2000-2006. The magnitude of this uncertainty value may be caused by one of the land cover data that composes the change class is shrub which have a high variation in the image. The RF algorithm requires more training samples to introduce shrub varieties to increasing the accuracy value.
