Pemanfaatan teknologi SMS (Short Message System) pada prototipe melihat jadwal dan nilai mata kuliah

Seiring berkembangnya peradaban, informasi yang dibutuhkan oleh manusia semakin kompleks dan instan. Teknologi informasi dengan berbagai kemampuannya telah banyak membantu manusia mendapat informasi dengan lebih cepat. Kombinasi antara teknologi telepon seluler dengan teknologi Internet belakangan ini semakin marak dibahas.Sistem Informasi Akademik berguna untuk pengisian Kartu Rencana Studi (KRS), melihat Kartu Hasil Studi (KHS), Pemberitahuan jadwal kuliah, jadwal ujian dan informasi-informasi lainnya yang mendukung kegiatan belajar mereka. Bagi dosen, sistem ini bermanfaat untuk mengetahui jadwal mengajar, pemberian nilai, mengetahui data-data mahasiswamahasiswa. Program Prototipe Pemanfaatan SMS pada melihat jadwal dan nilai mata kuliah adalah suatu program di mana user dalam hal ini mahasiswa dapat melihat jadwal dan nilai yang telah mereka ambil dalam masa perkuliahan melalui SMS. Spesifikasi perangkat untuk kebutuhan simulasi / prototipe sistem adalah sebagai berikut: Personal Computer atau NoteBook yang memiliki fasilitas infra merah, konektor Infra Merah, Telepon seluler yang memiliki fasilitas infra merah, dan dalam penelitian ini digunakan Nokia 8250, 8210, program ini dibuat dengan menggunakan Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 yang akan mempunyai 2 fungsi utama, pertama sebagai OLE automation client yang akan menangani penerimaan dan pengiriman SMS dari dan ke telepon seluler melalui SMS Gateway, fungsi kedua adalah untuk melakukan query ke basis data. Pada prototipe program SMS ini dapat dilayani permintaan pesan berupa Melihat Nilai, Melihat jadwal mata kuliah, IPK dan Pengumuman. Pada protototipe melihat jadwal dan nilai mata kuliah melalui SMS ini, masih memerlukan tambahan layanan yang nantinya akan mendukung suatu Sistem Informasi Akademik.

Together with the development of civilization, the information needed by human beings becomes more complex and instant. The information technology with the variety of capability has very much helped human beings getting information more quickly. The combination between the cellular telephone technology and the Internet one lately are excessively talked. The academic information system is useful to fulfil the study plan card, to see the study output one, to tell the lectures schedule, the exam one and the other information that supports their studying activity. For lecturer, this system is useful to know the teaching schedule, give the marks, and to know the students’ data. The prototype program using SMS to see the schedule and the lectures marks is a program in which the users, the students, can see the schedule and mark that they have taken in the lecturer period through SMS. The level specification being to be the simulation needs or prototype system is as follows: the computer personal or Note Book having the facility of a red infra connector, and the cellular telephone that has a red infra facility. Then, in this research is used Nokia 8250, 8210 in which this program is made by using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 that will have two main functions. Those functions are first; it is as OLE automation client that will handle the receiving and the sending SMS from and to the cellular telephone through SMS gateway. Second, it is to do a query to the data basis. In the SMS program prototype can be served by the request of a massage such as seeing the marks, the lectures schedule, the cumulative achievement index and the announcement. In the prototype, we can see the schedule and the lectures marks through this SMS. Besides, it still needs the additional serving that will support an academic information system thereafter.
