Girimulyo is a sub-district located in the Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta with an area of 54,9 km2 , placing it 4th as the largest area in the Kulon Progo Regency. The geological diversity in the sub-district gives good value towards the geosite potential. This potential is beneficial to support the conservation of geological resources and the development of geology-based tourism. With the potential of this geosite, needs to be managed properly so that it can be used for geotourism purposes. The means can be done by geodiversity inventory, which is conducting geological mapping related to geomorphology, lithology, and geological structure along with evaluating the geosite with the parameters set by the Geological Agency in 2017 to determine the eligibility of the geosite. Based on geomorphology research results, research sites are divided into two units, which are karst hills unit and structural hills unit. Research on lithology is divided into four, namely mudstone, wackestone, andesite, and andesite breccia with an indication of the structure in the forms of extension joints aiming relatively towards northeast-southwest. The geosite assessment was carried out in 6 locations, Mudal River, Kedung Pedut Waterfall, Kembang Soka Waterfall, Grojogan Sewu Waterfall, Kedung Banteng, and Kiskendo Cave. In general, all geosites has a good levels of eligibility, where Kiskendo Cave has a higher priority to support geotourism development.
