Penyakit ternak (hewan) merupakan gangguan kesehatan yang dapat terjadi pada hewan ternak diakibatkan kelainan genetik, gangguan metabolisme, proses degeneratif, infestasi parasit, keracunan, prion, infeksi mikroorganisme patogen, dan trauma menjadi faktor penyebabnya. Penyakit ternak merupakan masalah dalam kesehatan ternak yang mejadi salah satu faktor berpengaruh dalam ekosistem usaha peternakan. Pendataan penyakit dan gejala pada sapi selama ini dilakukan dengan cara pembukuan secara manual. Pembukuan secara manual memiliki kelemahan yaitu data dapat terduplikasi dan mudah hilang karena tidak tersimpan secara terpusat. Hal ini juga menyebabkan kesulitan dalam pemeriksaan dan diagnosa yang dilakukan oleh dokter dan mantri nantinya. Selain itu, pendataan yang buruk dapat menyulitkan peternak untuk melakukan pengecekan secara berkala. Permasalahan tersebut membawa penulis membuat gagasan yang menjadi cikal bakal dibangunnya sebuah sistem informasi untuk mengelola data penyakit yang diidap oleh sapi berbasis web bernama SIPETERS. Dengan adanya sistem informasi yang akan dibangun diharapkan dapat membuat efektif serta memudahkan peternak untuk mengurus sapinya dengan baik. Sistem ini terdapat fitur untuk menyimpan data penyakit dan gejala serta sistem ini terdapat fitur untuk menyimpan data peternak dan data sapi yang dimiliki oleh peternakan. Sistem ini juga terdapat fitur identifikasi penyakit sapi yang akan membantu peternak menemukan penyakit apa yang dialami oleh sapi.

Livestock (animal) disease is a health disorder in livestock caused by genetic defects, degenerative processes, metabolic disorders, trauma, poisoning, parasitic infestations, prions, and infection with pathogenic microorganisms. Livestock disease is a problem for livestock health which is one of the pivotal factors in livestock business. To this extent, data collection of diseaseas sign and symptoms in cattle has been carried out by manual bookkeeping. Manual bookkeeping has the disadvantage which are data duplication and lost tendency because it is not centered in one saving site. This causes further difficulties in examination and diagnosis carried out by vets and paramedics. Moreover, poor data collecting can make it difficult for farmers to perform periodic examination. These problems led author to come up with an idea which became the forerunner to the construction of an information system to detect diseases in cattle for a web-based breeder called SIPETERS. With the information system that will be built, it is expected to be effective and make it easier for farmers/cattlemen to take care of their cows properly. This system has a feature to store disease and symptom data and this system has a feature to store farmer data and cattle data owned by the farm. This system also has a cow disease identification feature that will help farmers find out what diseases are experienced by cows.
