Pandemi secara signifikan berdampak pada kegiatan bisnis terutama pada perusahaan swasta di industri percetakan. Berbagai tantangan dan pembatasan ruang gerak serta ancaman lainnya dapat berpengaruh terhadap tingkat work engagement karyawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji peran career adaptability sebagai mediator terhadap emotional intelligence dan work engagement. Partisipan penelitian merupakan karyawan swasta di industri percetakan dengan total jumlah sebanyak 216 karyawan yang tersebar di sejumlah industri percetakan kota Semarang. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survey dengan analisis data boostrapping dari Hayes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, karyawan swasta yang bekerja di industri percetakan dengan kemampuan intrinsik yang baik seperti emotional intelligence dan career adaptability lebih dapat meningkatkan work engagement pada masa pandemi corona. Selain itu, didapati hasil bahwa emotional intelligence pada work enggagement menunjukkan hasil yang positif dan signifikan dengan koefisien 0,1757 (p<0,05) sehingga pengaruh langsung emotional intelligence terhadap work engagement karyawan swasta di industri percetakan lebih kuat dibandingkan dengan pengaruh tidak langsung melalui career adapatability. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa unsur intrinsik individu penting dalam meningkatkan work engagement dan membantu individu menghadapi tekanan di industri percetakan pada masa pandemi corona.

The pandemic has significantly impacted business activities, especially private companies in the printing industry. Various challenges and restrictions on space as well as other threats can affect the level of employee work engagement. This study aims to examine the role of career adaptability as a mediator on emotional intelligence and work engagement. Research participants are private employees in the printing industry with a total of 216 employees spread across a number of printing industries in the city of Semarang. The study was conducted using a survey method with data analysis boostrapping from Hayes. The results of the study show that private employees who work in the printing industry with good intrinsic abilities such as emotional intelligence and career adaptability are more able to increase work engagement during the corona pandemic. In addition, it was found that emotional intelligence in work engagement showed positive and significant results with a coefficient of 0.1757 (p <0.05) so that the direct influence of emotional intelligence on work engagement of private employees in the printing industry was stronger than the indirect effect through career adaptability. This research proves that individual intrinsic elements are important to increasing work engagement and helping individuals deal with pressures in the printing industry during the corona pandemic.
