The COVID-19 pandemic situation made theater artists in Indonesia strategize to remain present in the art ecosystem. One of the methods to stay present is changing the performance media into virtual theater. This research looks for the aspects of how theater artists use virtual theater methods to provide a theatrical presence as well as the adjustment of theater work. This also makes the researcher question theater artists' resilience in dealing with the adaptation of the changing performance media; based on the presence theory by Cormac Power and the resilience theory of Norris, et al. Selected five theater actors in Indonesia with productions made in 2020-2021 were interviewed and observed. The data analysis using multi-method qualitative research shows that resilience for actors is the attempt to break through boundaries; whether those are spatial boundaries or the methods of presence. Actors build awareness, performance, and interaction by seeking various performance strategies, getting feedback, and self-reflecting as a mode of learning. During the pandemic, the presence and resilience of actors are intertwined with one another. Actor resilience is carried out by trying to always maintain presence at every performance opportunity.
