Study on the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint Program with Six University Network Japan

Addressing the present-day issue after the AUN establishment on the 1992 ASEAN Summit which specifically gives AUN the mandate to hasten the solidarity and development of regional identity through the promotion of human resource development to further strengthen the existing network of leading universities and institutions of higher learning in the region. Hence, to fulfil the mandates of the institution, which is to develop partnership and improve higher educational qualities within ASEAN and fulfilling the ASEAN values specifically in the higher educational fields. One of those values is the ASEAN Socio-cultural Community Blueprint which emphasizes several matters including the showcase of ASEAN. In this thesis, the author is about to show whether the AUN has effectively delivered the ASEAN Socio-cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint goals through one of its programs;The AUN-SUN Study and Visit Programme in 2018 emerged within the ASEAN+3 partnership. The Program itself is covering two weeks of mobilities program including lectures, on-site exposures, cultural workshops, and organisation visits by 28 Students from 3 different Universities in Japan. Therefore, the author is mainly assessing whether the two-week activities is up to par with the ASCC Blueprint Goals and Agenda. The data was collected throughout the programme and the measurement is based on the deliveries of activities by the AUN Secretariat and assisted by the author itself. Theoretically and empirically, this internship-based thesis will help the AUN Secretariat to deliver a deeper analysis through action research and aimed for the improvement of the program shortly.
