PERAN KESEPIAN TERHADAP KECENDERUNGAN DEPRESI WARGA PANTI WREDA DI YOGYAKARTA

Lansia adalah tahapan terakhir dalam siklus kehidupan manusia. Pada tahapan tersebut, lansia harus menghadapi masalah yang berkaitan dengan kemunduran fisik maupun psikologis seperti kesepian yang ternyata dapat memicu munculnya depresi pada lansia, terutama lansia yang tinggal di panti wreda. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran kesepian terhadap kecenderungan depresi pada lansia panti wreda di Yogyakarta. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif menggunakan kuesioner Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) short form 15 dan UCLA Loneliness Scale version 3. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini yaitu 154 lansia yang tinggal di panti wreda di Yogyakarta. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi sederhana. Hasil analisis menunjukkan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,695 dan koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,483. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peran kesepian terhadap kecenderungan warga panti wreda di Yogyakarta sebesar 48,3% dan sisanya adalah variabel yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini.

Elderly is the last stage in the human life cycle. At this stage, the elderly must face problems related to physical and psychological setbacks such as loneliness which can actually trigger depression in the elderly, especially the elderly who live in nursing homes. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of loneliness on the tendency of depression in the elderly at a nursing home in Yogyakarta. The method used in this study is a quantitative method using a short form 15 Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) questionnaire and a UCLA Loneliness Scale version 3. The participants in this study were 154 elderly people living in a nursing home in Yogyakarta. Data were analyzed using simple regression analysis. The results of the analysis show a correlation coefficient of 0.695 and a coefficient of determination of 0.483. This shows that there is a role of loneliness on the tendency of residents of nursing homes in Yogyakarta by 48.3% and the rest are variables not examined in this study.
