The use of cadaver in anatomy practical session is a gold standard that holds huge importance in the medical education processes in the University. Nonetheless, there are some limitations and challenges on the implementations of cadaveric usage in anatomy practical session. Technology has been developing rapidly in the industrial revolution 4.0 era, thus bringing many innovations to the many aspects of living, including medical education. As a consequence, the education methods paradigm is slowly shifting from teacher-centered learning and didactic teaching towards student-centered learning and problem-centered learning. One of the examples from the innovations stated above is the extensive usage and implementations of device applications that provides anatomy visualization features and incorporates it into nowadays medical teaching. One example of it is the use of 3D anatomy atlas such as Virtual 3D Osteologi Manusia “Balung” Application which has usage advantages in several aspects. Nevertheless, it can’t be denied that the existence of those technologies couldn’t replace the conventional anatomy teaching method using cadaver yet. This study aims to explore instructors’ perception and evaluate the usability of Aplikasi Virtual 3D Osteologi Manusia as a complementary teaching media in anatomy lessons. This study uses a mixed explanatory method involving anatomy instructors of Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health, Universitas Gadjah Mada. All of the participants were asked to try the 3D Osteologi Manusia “Balung” application and fill out the research questionnaire afterwards. The perception and satisfaction of the instructors in using Virtual 3D Osteologi Manusia “Balung” application was evaluated by UEQ (User Experience Questionnaire), SUS (System Usability Scale) and open-ended questions. The UEQ dan SUS questionnaires were used to collect quantitative data, while open-ended questions were used to collect qualitative data that would further elaborate the quantitative findings. UEQ is used to evaluate attractiveness, perspicuity, efficiency, dependability, stimulation and novelty. Meanwhile SUS is used to evaluate the usability of the application. Data analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel and UEQ Data Analysis Tool Version 10 (with CI 95%). From a total of 21 respondents, the average UEQ results obtained for each aspect, namely attractiveness of 1.92 (0.66), clarity of 1.95 (0.66), efficiency of 1.79 (0.70), accuracy of 1.82 ( 0.61), stimulation 1.95 (0.66) and novelty 1.79 (0.88), where all of those six aspects received a positive evaluation. The SUS evaluation indicates a good application usability which is indicated by a final score of 73.28 with a good evaluation. Those positive quantitative evaluations were supported and clarified with open-ended questions, with several important points for application further development, including development of application to other organ systems, creation of usage guides/tutorials, optimization of UI/UX aspects and addition of interactive anatomy quiz/game features.
