BACKGROUND: In 2020, a COVID-19 pandemic has received tremendous attention worldwide. In the face of every pandemic, there are always different perspectives of people as a construct of thinking to understand the current situation. The assessment of students' knowledge and behavior during the crisis, particularly medical students, are critical in the overall efforts to make medical professionals in training have contextual learning opportunities about the disease and its clinical and public health responses. Living in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic provides a true learning environment for medical students about the diseases. Pros and cons in applying control and surrounding debates are good sources for the development of critical perspective among the students. Besides that, many misunderstandings and false information are circulating on social media regarding the transmission of the disease, methods of acquisition, risk factors, and precautions efforts. Indeed, the COVID-19 outbreak is real and supposed to be a part of contextual learning processes engaged by students as they have a critical role in the midst of the pandemic. AIM: The study aims to determine the knowledge, attitude, and student engagement with COVID-19 current practices and debates related to government control of the disease as well as precautionary measures of Indonesian medical students towards COVID-19 as a part of students' learning process evaluation concerning the pandemic in Indonesia. METHOD: A descriptive cross-sectional study design will be used for the research, utilizing an online questionnaire (self-reported questionnaire) created on Google Forms and broadcasted or posted on several online platforms accessible by medical students at all levels of Gadjah Mada University, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing.
