Persepsi Remaja Terhadap Perawatan Ortodonti Oleh Tenaga Kesehatan Non Profesional

Kepopuleran perawatan ortodonti terutama pada remaja menyebabkan permintaan dan pelayanan ortodonti di era globalisasi terus mengalami peningkatan dari waktu ke waktu. Keadaan tersebut dimanfaatkan oleh beberapa kalangan masyarakat non profesional untuk melakukan perawatan ortodonti misalnya perawat gigi dan tukang gigi, padahal perawatan ortodonti harus dipasang oleh dokter gigi spesialis ortodonti (ortodontis). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi remaja terhadap perawatan ortodonti oleh tenaga kesehatan non profesional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode survey dengan menggunakan instrumen angket. Jumlah responden penelitian ini 75 remaja di SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta. Pemilihan subjek menggunakan metode purposive sampling yaitu cara pengambilan subjek penelitian berdasarkan kriteria tertentu yaitu kriteria inklusif. Kriteria inklusif dalam penelitian ini adalah remaja usia 15-18 tahun. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis statistik deskriptif untuk mengetahui mean atau rerata (M), median (Me), modus (Mo), dan simpangan baku (SB). Hasil penelitian dari faktor eksternal menunjukkan mayoritas remaja dalam kategori persepsi kurang positif mencapai 29 responden (38,7%) dan faktor internal memiliki kategori kurang positif mencapai 31 responden (41,3%). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah mayoritas remaja di SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta memiliki persepsi kurang positif terhadap perawatan ortodonti oleh tenaga kesehatan non profesional.
Orthodontic treatment is one of the types of treatments in dentistry that aims to adjust the position of abnormal teeth and jaws so that good dental function and aesthetic as well as a pleasant face are obtained. The popularity of orthodontic treatment, especially for teenagers, has caused the demand for orthodontic services in the era of globalization to continue to increase from time to time. Several non-professionals take advantage of this situation by carrying out orthodontic roles, such as dental nurses and dental artisans. In fact, orthodontic treatment must be provided by orthodontic specialists (orthodontists). This study aims to determine the teenagers� perception of orthodontic treatment by non-professional health workers. This study employed descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The method used in this study was a survey using a questionnaire. In this study, there were 75 respondents aged 15-18 years from SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta (State Vocational High School 4 Yogyakarta). The selection of subjects in this study was in accordance with purposive sampling method, namely inclusive criteria. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis techniques to determine the mean, mode, and standard deviation. The results of the study of external factors showed that the 29 respondents (38.7%) had less positive perception. Meanwhile, the study of internal factors showed that there were 31 respondents (41.3%) who had less positive perception. Therefore, it can be concluded that the majority of teenagers from SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta (State Vocational High School 4 Yogyakarta) had less positive perception of orthodontic treatment by non-professional health workers.
