The Implications of TV Series in the Form of Boys Love Genre as a Way to Shaped Thailand's LGBT Rights Acceptance

Perjalanan eksistensi queer sinematik di Thailand dapat ditelusuri tahun 1960an, sebagai periode pertama munculnya. Tetapi kemunculan kembali queer sinematic dalam bentuk Boys Love series sukses mendapatkan perhatian penonton dan membuat seriesnya menjadi ikon dari industri hiburan di Thailand. Peningkatan permintaan produksi Boys Love series kedepannya membuka jalan untuk series tersebut menjadi platform yang layak bagi komunitas LGBT untuk merepresentasikan diri mereka di media. Paparan ini kemudian membawa Boys Love series untuk membantu dalam merubah diskursus dalam masyarakat dan familiarisasi komunitas yang nantinya memberi kesempatan untuk menangani diskriminasi yang terjadi dan membuka diskusi public terkait topik queer.

The journey of Thailand's cinematic queer existence can be traced back to 1960s as the first emergence, but the reemergence of Thailand's cinematic queer in the form of Boys Love series has succeed in stealing audiences' attention and making Boys Love series to be the icon of Thailand's entertainment industry. The increase demand of Boys Love series production then later shifting into giving a proper platform for the LGBT community to represent themselves within the media. This exposure led to the reshaping discourse in the society and to familiarize the people with the LGBT community that resulted to opening the chance to addressing the discriminations that once remained and to open up public discussion especially in regards to queer topic in Thailand.
