Mesin Diesel Komatsu M 6D 125-2 merupakansalah satu mesin diesel yang terdapat pada bengkel Departemen Teknik Mesin Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada, mesin ini merupakan mesin diesel bantuan dari PT Komatsu Indonesia Tbk pada tahun 2001, memiliki kapasitas 11040 CC dengan enam silinder yang mampu menghasilkan tenaga sebesar 180 HP. Namun sangat disayangkan mesin ini tidak dapat beroperasi sehingga mahasiswa tidak dapat mempelajari lebih dalam mengenai mesin tersebut. Mesin diesel ini terakhir beroperasi pada tahun 2010, dilihat dari usia mesin dan lama mesin tidak beroperasi diperlukan metode perawatan yang tepat untuk mengembalikan kondisi mesin seperti semula. Dalam pelaksanaan perbaikan mesin Komatsu M 6D 125-2 digunakan metode Operational Preventive Maintenance Procedure yang meliputi pengecekan visual dan fisik. Pengecekan tersebut meliputi pengecekan di beberapa komponen yaitu engine, cooling water, vanbelt, engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air cleaner, battery, fuel supply pump, dan starting motor. Setelah pengecekan secara menyeluruh pada komponen mesin didapat beberapa komponen tidak berfungsi dengan baik dan perlu adanya perbaiakan serta penggantian komponen apabila kondisi komponen tersebut rusak. Dengan metode seperti ini dapat membantu mesin kembali menyala jika tidak ada kerusakan yang berarti. Hasil pengecekan menunjukkan bahwa mesin berada pada kondisi yang baik dan tidak ada kebocoran pada mesin. Mesin gagal beroperasi karena adanya satu komponen yaitu baterai yang harus dilakukan penggantian dan pemasangan yang sesuai dengan kondisi mesin. Setelah penggantian baterai, mesin diesel Komatsu M 6D 125-2 bisa kembali menyala dan dapat beroperasi kembali secara normal.

Komatsu M 6D 125-2 Diesel Engine is one of diesel engines in the workshop of the Departement of Mechanical Engineering, Vocational School of Gadjah Mada University, this engine is a diesel engine assisted by PT Komatsu Indonesia Tbk in 2001, this engine has a capacity of 11040 cc with six cylinders capable of producing power of 180 HP. But this machine can not operate so the students can not learn more about the machine. The diesel engine last operated in 2010, according from the age of machine and the length of time the machine is not operating, proper maintenance methods are required to restore condition of machine as it was. In the implementation of engine rapair Komatsu M 6D 125-2 used Operational Preventive Maintenance Procedure method which includes visual ans physical checks. These checks include checking in several components, there is engine, cooling water, vanbelt, engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air cleaner, battery, fuel supply pump, and starting motor. After a thorough check on the engine components obtained some components did not work properly and there needs to be repair and replacement of components if the condition of component is damage. With this method it can help the machine get back on if there is no significant damage. The result showed that the machine was in good condition and there was no leakage in the machine. The machine failed to operate due to one component, the battery which had to be replaced and installed in accordance with the condition of machine. After battery replacement, Komatsu M 6D 125-2 diesel engine can return to normal operation.
