Pengaruh Pemberian Testosteron dan Bubuk Cangkang Kerang Anadara granosa Terhadap Perkembangan Testis DOC Layer Jantan

Ayam petelur jantan merupakan produk sampingan dari peternakan ayam petelur yang beberapa tahun terakhir ini tingkat permintaannya semakin meningkat. Pemanfaatan limbah cangkang kerang darah salah satunya yaitu dengan dijadikan pakan ternak. Zinc pada cangkang kerang darah dapat berperan sebagai inhibitor aromatase sehingga dapat meningkatkan kadar testosteron pada tubuh. Testosteron merupakan hormon reproduksi jantan yang berperan dalam peningkatan ukuran testis. Adanya penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian bubuk cangkang kerang darah Anadara granosa dan induksi testosteron terhadap perkembangan testis ayam petelur jantan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 34 ayam petelur jantan yang dibagi ke dalam dua kelompok perlakuan, yaitu pemberian bubuk cangkang kerang darah dan testosteron. Bubuk cangkang kerang darah diberikan dalam bentuk larutan sebanyak 0,036 mg/40 g secara per oral dan testosteron diberikan sebanyak 0,1 ml secara subkutan. Perlakuan diberikan selama 35 hari dan dilakukan pengambilan organ testis setiap minggunya untuk diukur panjang, lebar, dan bobotnya. Hasil penelitian diperoleh adanya peningkatan ukuran testis pada kedua kelompok perlakuan. Analisis statistik menunjukkan tidak adanya perbedaan yang signifikan (p>0,05) pada kedua kelompok perlakuan terhadap pertumbuhan ukuran testis. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian bubuk cangkang kerang darah dan testosteron dapat meningkatkan ukuran testis pada ayam petelur jantan.

Male layer chicken is a side product of a layer chicken farm that has increasing demand in the last few years. One of the use of the cockle shell waste is to be made as farm animal feed. Zinc in the blood cockle shell can act as aromatase inhibitor, thus can increase the level of testosterone in the body. Testosterone is a male reproductive hormone that acts on increasing the size of the testis. This study aims to determine the effect of giving blood cockle shell Anadara granosa powder and testosterone induction to the growth of testis in male layer chicken. The animal used in the study was 34 male layer chickens that were devided into two groups, the one which was given the blood cockle powder and the other one was testosterone induced. The blood cockle powder was made into a solution and was given orally at 0,036 mg/40 g and the testosterone was induced at 0,1 ml through subcutaneous injection. The treatment was given for 35 days and collecting the testis was done every week to measure its length, width, and weight. As a result, there was an increasing growth of the testis on both groups. On the statistical analysis, it is showed that there is no significant differences (p>0,05) in both groups of treatments to the growth of the testis. In conclusion, giving blood cockle powder and inducing testosterone can increase the size of the testis on male layer chicken.
