The differences in women's experiences in the HIV and AIDS crisis that occurred in South Africa cannot be separated from the socio-economic conditions inherited from historical factors and the patriarchal structure of the colonialism era. Using the postcolonial feminism perspective, this research analyzes how colonialism had established the imbalanced structure in South African society. This disparity is also reflected in the position of African women in the HIV and AIDS crisis, where they are part of the most vulnerable population. This research shows that in responding to this crisis, global health governance, represented by UNAIDS, has not been effective in overcoming these problems because it does not take into account the complex differences in experiences explained. In line with the postcolonial feminism argument which criticizes the West-centric approach, the UNAIDS response is also more or less still relying on the assumptions of Western liberal feminism which imperialistically impose its universalist knowledge and solutions.
