Toys Photography: Eksplorasi Seno Haryo Pada Pemotretan Action Figure �Heroic Journey to The Fantasy Dimension� Dalam Perspektif Performance Studies

Toy photography merupakan cabang fotografi yang menjadikan mainan atau toy sebagai objek dalam pemotretan, dimana objek tersebut berupa benda mati atau yang biasa disebut dengan action figure. Cabang ini juga merupakan genre baru dalam fotografi, di Indonesia saja aliran ini dikenal mulai 2012 hingga sekarang. Tantangan dalam pemotretan karya toy photography adalah seorang fotografer harus mampu membuat benda mati menjadi terlihat hidup dalam visual fotografi, fonomena inilah yang membuat para fotografer komersial menggeluti genre tersebut. Seno Haryo adalah salah satu fotografer komersial dan merupakan salah satu fotografer yang memperkenalkan genre fotografi ini ke Indonesia dan mendapatkan rekor MURI. Memotret benda mati atau action figure agar dapat terlihat hidup perlu memperhatikan (1) pose atau artikulasi objek, (2) setting atau diorama, (3) lighting atau tata lampu dan (4) konsep cerita atau adegan. Keempat faktor inilah yang membuat munculnya ide untuk meneliti explorasi Seno Haryo dalam pemotretan action figure pada project yang berjudul Heroic Journey to The Fantasy Dimension, dimana karya ini juga menarik karena ia memasukan boneka dirinya ke dalam adegan mainan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menganalisis data hasil dari observasi, wawancara, dan pembacaan dokumentasi BTS (behind the scene) project Seno Haryo yang disajikan secara deskriptif atas fakta-fakta yang ditemukan. Hasil pembacaan atau analisa mengenai eksplorsi dalam pemotretan tersebut akan dikaitkan dengan teori performance karena tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah explorasi Seno Haryo dapat dilihat dalam persfektif performance studies.

Toy photography is a photography genre that uses toys as its main objects, in which the toys are inanimate objects or what is commonly known as figurines/action figures. This genre is considered new in photography; in Indonesia, it has just started its fame in 2012. The challenges faced by a photographer of this genre are that they need to make the object become lifelike in visual, and this is what attracts the commercial photographers to pursue this genre. Seno Haryo is one of the commercial photographers who introduced this genre to Indonesia and won the MURI record. There are aspects to consider when photo shooting inanimate objects or action figures and making it lifelike in visual, such as (1) pose or object articulation, (2) setting or diorama. (3) lighting, and (4) narrative or scene. These four aspects lead to the idea of conducting a research on Seno Haryo�s exploration of action figure photo shooting in a project titled Heroic Journey to The Fantasy Dimension, which is very interesting because the photographer inserted himself into the scene alongside the toys. This research used the qualitative method by analyzing the data taken by observations, interviews, and BTS (behind the scene) documentation reading which later would be presented in the form of descriptive narration of the findings. The analysis of the exploration is later examined with performance theory because this research aims to find whether Seno Haryo�s exploration can be viewed from the perspective of performance studies.
