Perbedaan Selera Estetis dalam Filsafat: Metafisika Antirealisme Jiri Benovsky

Dengan menggunakan pemikiran Jiri Benovsky tentang properti estetis, penelitian ini mencari penyebab kebuntuan dalam metafisika, khususnya persoalan objek dan properti. Terdapat dua teori yang berdebat sengit di persoalan ini, yaitu teori universal imanen dan teori trope. Penelitian ini bergerak sedikit lebih jauh dari pembahasan metafisika pada umumnya, sebab penelitian ini mengkaji ulang kriteria-kriteria yang digunakan filsuf saat menyusun atau memilih antara teori universal imanen dan teori trope. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini masuk ke lingkup studi metametafisika. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kepustakaan yang menggunakan model penelitian historis-faktual. Persoalan objek dan properti dalam metafisika adalah objek material dari penelitian ini, sedangkan konsep Jiri Benovsky tentang properti estetis adalah objek formal dari penelitian ini. Pustaka primer untuk objek material adalah buku Universals and Scientific Realism (1978) karya D. M. Armstrong dan artikel jurnal On the Elements of Being (1953) karya D. C. Williams. Sementara itu, pustaka primer untuk objek formal adalah buku Meta-metaphysics: On Metaphysical Equivalence, Primitiveness, and Theory Choice (2016) karya Jiri Benovsky. Analisis penelitian ini berupa kualitatif-filosofis yang menggunakan beberapa unsur metodis, yaitu deskripsi, interpretasi, koherensi internal, dan heuristik. Penelitian ini memiliki tiga kesimpulan. Pertama, menurut Jiri Benovsky, teori universal imanen dan teori trope memiliki properti estetis dan nonestetis yang berbeda. Properti estetis dari kedua teori tersebut didasari oleh properti nonestetisnya. Kedua, perbedaan selera estetis seorang filsuf menjadi pendorong baginya untuk memilih salah satu dari kedua teori ini. Ketiga, pemikiran Jiri Benovsky ini mengantarkan kita kepada suatu pandangan metafisika antirealisme. Metafisika, dengan demikian, tidak mendeskripsikan kenyataan alam sesungguhnya, melainkan menjelaskan sistematisasi konsep-konsep pikiran kita.

Using Jiri Benovsky's thinking about aesthetic properties, this research looks for the causes of deadlock in metaphysics, particularly the problem of objects and properties. There are two theories which argue vigorously on this issue, namely the immanent universal theory and the trope theory. This research moves a little beyond the discussion of metaphysics in general, as it examines the criteria used by philosophers when developing or selecting between immanent universal theory and trope theory. Thus, this research is within the scope of metametaphysics studies. This research is a literature study that uses a historical-factual research model. The problem of objects and properties in metaphysics is the subject matter of this research, while Jiri Benovsky's concept of aesthetic property is the formal object of this research. Primary sources for subject matter are the book Universal and Scientific Realism (1978) by D. M. Armstrong and the journal article About the Elements of Being (1953) by D. C. Williams, while the primary source for formal objects is the book Meta-metaphysics: On Metaphysical Equivalence, Primitiveness, and Theory Choice (2016) by Jiri Benovsky. The research analysis is in the form of qualitative-philosophical which uses several methodical elements, namely description, interpretation, internal coherence, and heuristics. This study has three conclusions. First, according to Jiri Benovsky, immanent universal theory and trope theory have different aesthetic and non-aesthetic properties. The aesthetic properties of both theories are grounded on their non-aesthetic properties. Second, the difference in a philosopher's philosophical or aesthetic taste drives them to choose one of these two theories. Third, this Jiri Benovsky's thought leads us to a metaphysical view of anti-realism. Metaphysics, therefore, is not a description of the ultimate reality, but rather is a systematization of our concepts
