PERSEPSI MAHASISWA SASTRA DAN BAHASA JEPANG TENTANG KENDALA-KENDALA YANG DIHADAPI SAAT MENGIKUTI PERTUKARAN MAHASISWA DI JEPANG

Tugas akhir ini berisikan berbagai kendala yang dialami oleh mahasiswa yang mengikuti pertukaran pelajar di Jepang berdasarkan persepsi mahasiswa dan alumni Program Studi Sastra/Bahasa Jepang. Tujuan dari penulisan tugas akhir adalah memberikan informasi kepada pembaca mengenai kehidupan mahasiswa saat mengikuti pertukaran pelajar di Jepang. Selain kendala, Tugas Akhir ini juga berisikan cara-cara yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa Indonesia untuk mengatasi kendala yang dihadapi selama mengikuti pertukaran pelajar. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan angket, wawancara, dan studi literatur. Angket disebarkan secara daring dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 36 responden. Responden ditentukan berdasarkan kriteria sebagai berikut: 1) mahasiswa/alumni Program Studi Sastra dan Bahasa Jepang, 2) pernah atau sedang mengikuti pertukaran pelajar di universitas di Jepang, 3) periode keberangkatan tahun 2015-2019, dan 4) durasi menetap di Jepang minimal 6 bulan. Sementara itu, wawancara dilakukan terhadap 2 mahasiswa. Wawancara dan studi literatur dilakukan untuk mengkonfirmasi data-data yang diperoleh melalui angket. Metode penulisan yang digunakan yaitu metode penulisan deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan beberapa hal diantaranya sebagai berikut. Mahasiswa Indonesia mengalami berbagai macam kendala selama belajar di Jepang, di antaranya adalah kendala bahasa, kendala akademik, kendala adaptasi lingkungan, kendala adaptasi sosial, dan kendala keuangan. Keigo atau bahasa Jepang ragam hormat merupakan kendala terbesar yang dirasakan oleh responden penelitian. Ketika mengikuti kegiatan pertukaran di Jepang, homesick melanda sebagian besar mahasiswa pertukaran asal Indonesia

This final project discusses various problems experienced by Japanese Literature / Language study programs students and alumni who take part in student exchanges program in Japan. The purpose of writing this final project is to provide information to the readers about student life when participating on student exchange program in Japan. In addition, this final project also describes how Indonesian students overcome those problems. Research data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. The questionnaire was distributed online and 36 students and alumni participated on it. Students and alumni were chosen based on the following criteria: 1) a student or alumni of the Japanese Literature and Language Study Program, 2) have attended or were currently attending an exchange program at a Japanese university, 3) departure period in 2015-2019, and 4) stayed in Japan no less than 6 months. Meanwhile, interviews were conducted with 2 students. Interviews and literature studies were conducted to confirm the data obtained through the questionnaire. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded several things including the following. Indonesian students experience various kinds of obstacles while studying in Japan, including language barriers, academic issue, difficulties on environmental and social adaptation, and financial issue. The usage of the Japanese language honorific (keigo) is the biggest obstacle felt by respondents of this research Exchange students always carry a dictionary, both in the form of books and applications. When participating in exchange activities in Japan, homesick struck most of the exchange students from Indonesia.
