Produksi Suara Dan Penyajian Lagu Folklor Oleh Immanuel Choir

Immanuel Choir yang didirikan pada tahun 2013 merupakan Paduan Suara Mahasiswa yang relatif baru di kota Yogyakarta. Keterbatasan secara teknik vokal tidak menghalangi IC untuk berprestasi. Salah satu prestasi yang diraih oleh IC adalah penghargaan dalam kompetisi, khususnya pada kategori lagu-lagu folklor. Hal-hal unik yang terlihat dalam penyajian lagu folklor adalah produksi suara cempreng yang IC sajikan, meskipun produksi suara tersebut bertentangan dengan teori vokal klasik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti produksi suara IC yang dikaitkan dengan penyajian IC dalam membawakan lagu folklor. Lagu folklor yang digunakan adalah Dewa Ayu Janger. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk melihat gambaran mengenai produksi suara IC dengan pendekatan musikologi untuk mengetahui penyajian lagu folklor IC secara keseluruhan. Hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa IC memiliki karakter yang unik dalam produksi suara. Keunikan tersebut terlihat dalam penyajian IC ketika membawakan lagu folklor yang dinyanyikan dalam lagu Dewa Ayu Janger. Dalam lagu tersebut terdapat karakter suara IC yang menirukan suara instrumen gamelan sehingga suara yang diproduksi terdengar begitu cempreng. Suara cempreng tersebut diketahui sebagai salah satu cara untuk menambah unsur folklor melalui tiruan suara instrumen gamelan maupun suara sinden. Selain itu, penyajian IC juga dipengaruhi oleh ekspresi yang kuat, dinamika yang ekstrim dan interpretasi yang disesuaikan dengan karakter IC. Di sisi lain, salah satu keunikan tersebut dianggap kurang sesuai dengan teori vokal klasik yang menjadi semacam hal pakem dalam paduan suara. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, IC mengambil kesan bahwa karakter suara yang diproduksi oleh IC dianggap lebih folklor, sehingga keutamaan IC dalam sebuah penyajian adalah kesan folklor daripada teori vokal umum dalam paduan suara.

Immanuel Choir, founded in 2013, is a relatively new student choir in Yogyakarta. A whole of IC's members have limited vocal technique, but it does not preclude IC to get some achievements. One of IC's achievement is a honor in folklore category competition. This study attempts to examine the production of IC, which related with IC's performance in folklore song. The unique things seen in the IC's preformance of folklore songs are the production of shrill sounds, even though production of the sound is contrary to classical vocal theory. This research aims to examine the IC's sound production which related with IC's performing in Folklor song. The folkloric song used was Dewa Ayu Janger. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods to see the description of IC sound production with musical approaches to know the presentation of the overall folklore IC song. The result of this research is IC has a unique character of sound production. That can be seen in IC's performance when IC sung a folklore song in Dewa Ayu Janger's song. In that song, there are a character of IC's sound which gasps imitating gamelan instruments, therefore the character sounds so shrill. The shrill sound is known as one of the ways to add the folkloric elements through the sound of gamelan instruments and the sound of sinden. In addition, IC's performance is affected by strong expression, extreme dynamics, and interpretation which adapted with IC's style. In another way, some uniqueness in IC's choir is not really fit with classical vocal theory, which it is a basic theory in vocal choir. Based on the data, IC shows the characteristic of folklore than the characteristic of classic vocal, so the primary of IC's performance is folklore impression rather than common theory vocal.
