EXPRESSION OF FREEDOM AND RESISTANCE IN GUNS N� ROSES APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION

Musik dan lirik lagu adalah karya yang dapat didengar dan dibaca oleh berbagai kelompok masyarakat. Konteks sosial masyarakat menjadi hal yang sangat mendasari terciptanya lirik-lirik lagu. Dengan demikian, lirik lagu adalah isi dari peryataan dan kejadian sosial di masyarakat. Pada konteks ini album Appetite for Destruction mengambarkan isu-isu sosial dan budaya yang terjadi di masyarakat. Lirik lagu mengambarkan ekspresi kebebasan dan perlawanan kemapanan hidup masyarakat. Mereka melawan kekerasan fisik dan mental semasa kecil. Hal ini menuntut mereka untuk melawan kemapanan hidup yang terjadi di masyarakat. Lirik lagu menceritakaan kondisi yang terjadi pada kelompok subkultur. Ekspresi kebebeasan ini berkaitan dengan kehidupan didalam masyarakat. Studi ini mengunakan teori John Rowe Postnasional dan mengunakan metode semiotik dari Pierce subkultur dari Hebdigie. Data dari studi ini adalah kata dan kalimat di dalam album Appetite for Destruction yang berkaitan dengan ekspresi kebebasan dan perlawaan. Hasil dari analisa tersebut diketahui bahwa terdapat tanda ekspresi kebebasan dan perlawan di dalam album tersebut. Mereka menjadi korban kekerasan di masa kecil. Pengaruh yang ditimbulkan oleh kekerasan fisik dan mental sangat terasa terutama keberlangsungan kehidupan. Hal ini membangktikan mereka melawan kekerasan dan kemapanan hidup di masyarakat. Lirik lagu mengambarkan kondisi kelompok subkultur. Selain itu, kelompok subkultur menunjukan expresi kebebasan dan perlawanan kemapanan hidup. Dengan demikian, mereka berusaha untuk menunjukan ekspresi kebasan hidup dan perlawanan kemapanan hidup di dalam masyarakat.

Music and song lyrics are the artwork that can be heard and read by various community groups. The social context is the very basis for the creation of song lyrics. In addition, the song lyrics are ussually influenced by social events in the community. In this context, the album Appetite for Destruction potray the social and cultural issues that occured in society. The song lyrics describes the expression of freedom and resistance of people's lives. They fight physical and mental violence since their childhood. This requires them to fight the establishment of life that occurs in society. Song lyrics potray the conditions that occur in the subculture groups. This expression of freedom is related to life in society. This study uses the theory of John Rowe Postnational and the semiotic method of Pierce and subculture of Hebdigie. The data from this study are words and sentences in the Appetite for Destruction album relating to the expression of freedom and resistance. The results of this analysis show there are signs of freedom and resistance in the album. They became victims of violence since childhood. The effects of the physical and mental violence is felt especially on their survival of life. This awakens them to fight the violence and pitfalls of life in society. The song lyrics describe the condition of the subculture group. In addition, the subculture group shows the expression of freedom and resistance to the establishment of life. In addition, they show the expression of the freedom of life and the resistance to the establishment of life in society.
