Chocolate Park di Nglanggeran dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Simbiosis

Nglanggeran memiliki perkebunan kakao seluas 101 hektar. Budidaya kakao dilakukan secara turun-temurun diikuti pengolahan menjadi produk cokelat. Desa Wisata Nglanggeran dengan kakao dan olahan cokelat berpotensi dalam membantu meningkatkan perekonomian sekaligus mematahkan persepsi kekeringan di Gunungkidul. Chocolate Park merupakan gabungan ruang yang mengakomodasi aktivitas wisata, industri, dan edukasi. Tujuan perancangan adalah mengakomodasi kebutuhan ruang produksi (on farm) dan pemasaran (off farm) kakao sebagai tempat wisata. Selain itu, perancangan juga bertujuan untuk memberikan inspirasi desain untuk pengembangan pariwisata di Gunungkidul. Perancangan mengacu pada community-based tourism melalui desain yang sustainable dan menjunjung nilai budaya. Perpaduan aktivitas, alam, budaya, merupakan komponen yang perlu diselaraskan. Pendekatan teori arsitektur simbiosis oleh Kisho Kurokawa dipilih dalam membangun konsep.

Most of Gunungkidul area are karst. Karst ability to hold water is poor. A long dry season can impact drought. This phenomenon brings up people perception to generalize drought in all area. In economic aspect, the most contributing sector for gross domestic regional income is sector of agriculture, plantation, and fisheries. Uncertain weather condition causes fluctuating yields. Adding sale value of yields by industrial process is important to improve the economy. Despite of the karst, north zone of Gunungkidul is not karst area. Fruit plantation vary in the area. Nglanggeran has cocoa plantation about 101 hectares. Cocoa cultivation is done hereditary and followed by processing yields into chocolate products. Nglanggeran Tourism Village's cocoa and chocolate products are potential to help improving the economy and break the drought perception in Gunungkidul. Chocolate Park is combination of space which accommodates tourist, industry, and education activities. The aim of design is to accommodate space of cocoa production (on farm) and marketing (off farm) as a tourism space. Design also aim to give inspiration for Gunungkidul tourism development. Design refers to community based-tourism by paying attention to sustainability and upholding cultural values. Combination of activities, nature, culture is need to be harmonized. The theory of symbiosis in architecture by Kisho Kurokawa is selected to be an approachment to build the concept design.
