There are still many countries currently in the world relying on crude oil as the major source of energy. In Indonesia, the production rate of crude oil decreases steadily with current production rate of about 800 000 bbl oil/day in 2018. Current state happens because in Indonesia there are still a lot of old wells become mainstay to produce oil. Hence, there is an urgent need to introduce technology to improve the oil production. The current EOR development in Indonesia has been implemented in several fields, such as the Minas field and Rantau field. To support the success of EOR, one of the most important processes is reservoir simulation. By doing the reservoir simulation, it will be seen the distribution of fluid that occurs in the reservoir, which is in this research using a core sample on the lab scale. This research began by previously obtaining data from a laboratory that carried out the surfactant injection process using Berea stone samples, crude oil and formation water from the Tempino field, and surfactants from Lignosulfonate. The first process carried out is saturating rocks with formation water and oil for 24 hours. After that the injection is done three times, first injection of water, followed by surfactant injection and second injection of water. All processes are carried out until the oil is no longer produced. The results of laboratory studies show that the recovery factor value for the first water injection is 42%, the surfactant injection is 55% and the second water injection is 60%. After that, this research was conducted with the aim of seeing the comparison of the results of recovery factor in simulated data and lab data. Simulations are carried out using the CMG-STARS simulator, where the simulator is used to see reservoir performance during chemical injection, both polymer injection and surfactant injection. In addition, this simulation can also see the movement of fluids that occur in the rock. Based on the simulation results obtained that the recovery factor of the first water injection is 43%, surfactant injection is 54% and the second water injection is 60%.
