MOTIVASI DAN KESADARAN TENTANG REPOSITORI INSTITUSI OLEH MAHASISWA UNIVERSITAS ISLAM INDONESIA YOGYAKARTA DAN UNIVERSITAS NEGERI YOGYAKARTA

2019 | Tesis | MAGISTER KAJIAN BUDAYA DAN MEDIARepositori institusi dianggap sebagai salah satu sarana yang tepat dipergunakan oleh universitas untuk menyimpan, melestarikan dan menyebarkan karya ilmiah mahasiswa dan dosen. Akses terbuka pada repositori institusi membuat mahasiswa bisa mengakses karya ilmiah tersebut secara terbuka dan bagian-bagian dari karya tersebut bisa mereka peroleh lebih lengkap mulai dari bab pendahuluan hingga lampiran. Namun, ada sisi lain dari repositori institusi yang belum banyak mendapat perhatian, yakni motivasi dan kesadaran tentang repositori institusi. Didukung dengan data akses mahasiswa terhadap repositori institusi yang sangat tinggi maka penelitian ini dilaksanakan di dua perguruan tinggi Yogyakarta, UII dan UNY. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa motivasi mahasiswa UII dan UNY menggunakan repositori institusi dan apa kesadaran mahasiswa UII dan UNY tentang repositori institusi. Metode digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara terhadap enam mahasiswa UII dan enam mahasiswa UNY yang diperoleh berdasarkan teknik snowball sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan motivasi utama mahasiswa UII menggunakan repositori institusi adalah untuk memperoleh referensi sedangkan motivasi mahasiswa UNY menggunakan repositori institusi karena repositori institusi alat yang mudah digunakan. Sisi kesadaran, mahasiswa UII dan UNY memiliki perbedaan kesadaran tentang repositori institusi. Perbedaannya ada pada pengetahuan, semester, pemahaman, medium dan kesediaan menyimpan karya akademik di repositori institusi.
Institutional repositories are considered as one of the appropriate tools used by universities to store, preserve and disseminate the scientific work of students and lecturers. Open access to institutional repositories allows students to access the scientific work openly and they can get more complete parts of the work from the introductory chapter to the appendix. However, there is another side to the institutional repository that has not received much attention, namely motivation and awareness about institutional repositories. Supported by data on student access to very high institutional repositories, this research was conducted at two universities in Yogyakarta, UII and UNY. This study aims to find out what the motivation of UII and UNY students to use institutional repositories and what is the awareness of UII and UNY students about institutional repositories. The method used is qualitative data collection techniques in the form of interviews with six UII students and six UNY students who were obtained based on snowball sampling techniques. The results showed that the main motivation of UII students to use institutional repositories was to obtain references while the motivation of UNY students to use institutional repositories because the institutional repositories were easy to use tools. In terms of awareness, UII and UNY students have different awareness about institutional repositories. The difference is in the knowledge, semester, understanding, medium and willingness to save academic work in institutional repositories.
