REAKSI SAHAM-SAHAM PERUSAHAAN BATU BARA DI INDONESIA TERHADAP INFORMASI PENGUMUMAN KEBIJAKAN DAN LANGKAH PEMERINTAH TIONGKOK DALAM BERINVESTASI PADA ENERGI TERBARUKAN

Pengumuman kebijakan dapat mempengaruhi lingkungan bisnis suatu industri atau negara. Karena hal ini, pengumuman suatu kebijakan yang dapat mempengaruhi industri atau ekonomi negara akan memberikan reaksi dari investor pada industri atau negara yang bersangkutan. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara pengekspor batu bara kualitas rendah terbesar di dunia dengan salah satu tujuan utama Tiongkok. Pada tahun 2014, pemerintah Tiongkok mengambil langkah untuk mengurangi konsumsi batu bara kualitas rendah pada campuran energi negaranya dan beralih ke energi terbarukan. Hal ini menyebabkan serangkaian pengumuman kebijakan yang mendukung akselerasi dependensi terhadap energi terbarukan dan mengurangi permintaan batu bara kualitas rendah. Pada penelitian ini, diamati keberadaan reaksi perusahaan-perusahaan batu bara yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia berupa abnormal return terhadap pengumuman kebijakan pemerintah Tiongkok untuk berinvestasi energi terbarukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan reaksi yang bermacam-macam pada tiap-tiap pengumuman kebijakan. Terdapat banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi reaksi saham perusahaan batu bara seperti kejutan informasi, keberadaan isu sebelum kebijakan diumumkan secara resmi, dan lain-lain.

Announcement of a regulation can affect economic balance of an industry or a country. Thus, an announcement of regulation will garner reaction from investor that will be influenced by the announced regulation. Indonesia is one of the biggest low-yield coal supplier in the world with China as one of its major buyer. In 2014, China announced its commitment to reduce their consumption on low-yield coal and substitute it with renewable energy in its mix-energy consumption. China's commitment were followed by a series of regulation announcement that are meant to support China's process of substitution from low-yield coal to renewable energy. This paper observed the existence of Indonesia coal company's shares reaction toward the announcement of China's commitment to invest in renewable energy. From the observations, it's concluded that Indonesia coal company's shares did react to the announcement of China's commitment but its reactions to the observed announcements were varied. There were factors that affect Indonesia coal company's shares reaction such as surprise information, information leak, and other.
