METODE DAN TEKNIK PENERJEMAHAN KALIMAT DEKLARATIF OLEH AUTO TRANSLATE DI YOUTUBE

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis metode dan teknik penerjemahan yang diterapkan pada hasil terjemahan yang dihasilkan oleh fitur Auto-translate yang terdapat dalam Closed Captions pada situs berbagi video YouTube.com berjudul President Donald Trump Urgent Speech to the United Nations General Assembly dalam bentuk subtitle beserta implikasinya terhadap tuturan yang berbentuk kalimat deklaratif. Dalam menganalisa teknik penerjemahan, teori oleh Molina dan Hurtado Albir (2002) digunakan sebagai acuan serta teori oleh Peter Newmark (1988) digunakan untuk menentukan metode penerjemahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif komparatif yang ditujukan untuk mengetahui metode dan teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan pada hasil terjemahan beserta implikasinya terhadap orientasi hasil terjemahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 13 teknik penerjemahan yang ditemukan dari 175 data tuturan deklaratif. Teknik penerjemahan literal merupakan teknik yang paling lazim dijumpai dengan 253 penggunaan. Metode penerjemahan yang paling lazim ditemui adalah metode penerjemahan harfiah dengan persentasi 41,2%. Secara keseluruhan, 100% data diterjemahkan menggunakan metode penerjemahan yang berorientasi kepada Bsu. Hal ini mengimplikasikan hasil penerjemahan yang dihasilkan fitur Auto-Translate berorientasi pada Bsu. disamping itu, Dampak dari penggunaan metode dan teknik penerjemahan yang berorientasi kepada Bsu adalah berkurangnya unsur kedeklaratifan dari tuturan Donald Trump. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh gagalnya fitur AT dalam mendeteksi struktur dari Bsu kepada Bsa seperti pada tuturan yang terdiri dari banyak nomina dalam satu kalimat.

This research was aimed to analyze the translation methods and techniques applied in the translation results produced by Auto translate (AT) feature contained in the Closed Captions (CC) feature on YouTube video entitled President Donald Trump's Urgent Speech to the United Nations General Assembly in the form of subtitles along with the implications to the translation results. Theory by Molina and Hurtado Albir (2002) was used as main reference to determine the translation techniques and theory by Peter Newmark (1988) was used to determine the method of translation. This research used a comparative descriptive analysis method in which intended to find out the translation methods and techniques used in the translation results and the implications to the orientation of the translation results. There were 13 translation techniques found throughout 175 declarative sentences. Literal translation technique was the most common technique found with 253 uses. The most common translation method encountered was literal method with a percentage of 41.2%. Overall, 100% of the data is translated using a method oriented to Source Language. This implied that the translation results generated by the Auto-Translate feature were oriented to Source Language. besides that, the impact of methods and translation techniques usage that oriented to the source language was the declining element of declaration from Donald Trump's speech. This is caused by the failure of the Auto Translate feature in detecting structures from source language especially in utterances with several noun phrase.
