Ektoparasit kutu sering menyerang burung merpati.

Lice are one of the ectoparasites that often infest pigeons. This study aims to determine the types of lice that often infest pigeons in Sleman Regency, Bantul Regency, and Yogyakarta City. Sampling of pigeons was carried out from February to May 2019. Five pigeons were taken from each regency or cities randomly. The samples were then identified for their infested lice and its morphological shape using a microscope. The total number of lice-infested were also calculated. The results showed that the lice-infested in pigeons were Colpocephalum turbinatum, Columbicola columbae, Campanulotes sp., Hohorstiella sp., and Philopteridae. Prevalence of ectoparasites Colpocephalum turbinatum, Columbicola columbae, Campanulotes sp., Hohorstiella sp., and Philopteridae that infest pigeons are 100%, 100%, 80-100%, 20-60%, and 40% respectively while their intensity of infesting pigeons are 87.4-206 per pigeon, 21-23 per pigeon; 6.2-18.6 per pigeon; 0.2-1.2 per pigeon; 0.4-1.6 per pigeon respectively.
