POLA PEMILIHAN KODE BAHASA PADA MASYARAKAT MULTIETNIK DUSUN TELAGA DESA KEMUJAN KECAMATAN KARIMUNJAWA

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengidentifikasi kode bahasa yang dipakai oleh masyarakat Dusun Telaga; (2) mendeskripsikan pola-pola pemilihan kode bahasa yang digunakan; dan (3) mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi pemilihan kode bahasa tersebut. Data dalam penelitian ini merupakan tuturan verbal masyarakat Dusun Telaga yang diperoleh melalui metode simak bebas libat cakap dengan teknik rekam dan catat. Selanjutnya data ditranskripsi dan diklasifikasi dengan mengidentifikasi pola-pola pemilihan kode bahasa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, repertoar bahasa masyarakat Dusun Telaga ialah bahasa Bugis, bahasa Indonesia, bahasa Jawa, dan bahasa Madura. Pada ranah keluarga ditemukan 8 variasi pola pemilihan kode bahasa, yakni BJ + BJ; BI +BI ; BB + BB; BM + BI; BB + BI, BM + BM, BM + BI + BJ; dan BB + BI + BJ. Pada ranah pendidikan hanya ditemukan tiga variasi pola pemilihan kode bahasa, meliputi BI + BI; BI + BJ; dan BJ+BJ. Pada ranah pergaulan masyarakat ditemukan 11 variasi pola pemilihan kode bahasa, meliputi BM + BB; BJ + BB; BI + BJ; BJ + BJ; BJ + BI + BB; BM + BJ; BI + BB; BM + BI; BB + BB; BI + BI; dan BM + BJ + BI. Pada ranah pemerintahan ditemukan 3 variasi pola pemilihan kode bahasa, yakni BI + BJ; BI + BI; dan BJ + BJ. Pada ranah keagamaan ditemukan 2 variasi pola pemilihan kode bahasa, meliputi BI + BI dan BJ + BJ Adapun faktor yang memengaruhi terjadinya pemilihan kode bahasa tersebut ada tiga, yakni (1) partisipan tutur, meliputi latar belakang etnis partisipan; tingkat kemampuan bahasa; relasi antarpartisipan; kehadiran atau kepergian partisipan lain; dan urutan berbicara; (2) tempat dan situasi tutur, meliputi tempat dan situasi formal; dan tempat dan situasi informal; dan (3) tujuan tutur, meliputi kehendak merahasiakan sesuatu, menunjukkan kekesalan, bersenda gurau, menawar, memarahi, menghormati mitra tutur, mempertegas tuturan, dan mengajarkan bahasa.

The research aims to (1) identify the language codes used by Telaga sub-village community, (2) describe the patterns of language code choices used by Telaga sub-village community, and (3) identify the factors that influence the choice of the language code. The data in this study are daily oral speeches of the Telaga sub-village community which were obtained through the observation method by recording and note-taking. Then, the data were transcribed and classified by identifying the choice pattern of language code. Based on the results of the study, language repertoires in the Telaga sub-village community are Buginese, Indonesian, Javanese, and Madurese. In the family domain, there are 8 variations of the choice pattern of language code, namely J + J; I + I; B + B; M + I; B + I, M + M, M + I + J; and B + I + J. In the education domain, there are only three variations of the choice pattern of the language code, namely I + I; I + J; and J + J. In the neighbourhood domain, there were 11 variations in the choice pattern of language code, namely M + B; J + B; I + J; J + J; J + I + B; M + J; I + B; M + I; B + B; I + I; and M + J + I. In the administration official domain, there are 3 variations of the choice pattern of the language code, namely I + J; I + I; and J + J. In the religious domain there were 2 variations of the choice pattern of the language code, namely I + I and J + J. There are three factors that influence the choices of the language code, namely (1) speech participants, specifically the ethnic background of the participants; level of language ability; relations between participants; arrival or departure of other participants; and speaking sequence; (2) the setting and scene of speech, specifically the formal and informal setting and scene, and (3) speech objectives, specifically to keep things secret, to show upset, to joke, make a haggle, to scold, to respect other participants, and to teach a language.
