KESESUAIAN PILIHAN KARIR INDIVIDU DITINJAU DARI ADAPTABILITAS KARIR DAN KEMAMPUAN PERSONAL BRANDING

Abstrak. Perubahan industri kerja yang terjadi saat ini mengakibatkan persaingan yang sangat kompetitif baik bagi organisasi maupun tenaga kerja. Individu harus mampu menentukan pilihan karirnya dengan bijak. Hal yang dapat mendukung pilihan karir yaitu adaptabilitas karir, yaitu penyesuaian diri terhadap lingkungan karir sesuai tugas perkembangan individu. Selain itu, kepekaan terhadap potensi diri dapat diwujudkan dalam kemampuan personal branding. Personal branding menjadi cara untuk bisa tampil beda ditengah lingkungan yang sangat kompetitif ini. Subyek dalam penelitian sejumlah 171 mahasiswa S1 semester akhir yang berdomisili di Yogyakarta. Analisis data yang digunakan regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan nilai R = 0,608; F = 49,308, dengan nilai p < 0,001, dan R² = 0,370. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian tersebut, hipotesis yang diajukan dinyatakan diterima. Adaptabilitas dan kemampuan personal branding secara bersama-sama mampu mejadi prediktor bagi kesesuaian pilihan karir individu. Sumbangan efektif yang diberikan sebesar 37% sedangkan secara parsial adaptabilitas karir memberikan sumbangan sebesar 2,2% sedangakan personal brand 34,78%.

The change in labour industry that occur nowadays cause massive competition toward both the organization and the workers. The individuals who have reached the period of exploration should be able to determine their career wisely. The factors that could influence career choice of an individual are the ability to adapt or career adaptability, that showed self adjustment toward the environmental condition of a career based on the developmental tasks of an individual. Furthermore, the sensibility of an individual’s self-potencial could be realized in form of personal branding. Personal branding could be used as the way to show differentiation within a competitive environment. The subjects that involved in this research were 169 senior-year college student that currently live in Yogyakarta to study. The analysis that was used in this research was multiple regression analysis to explore the influence of the independent variables (career adaptability and personal branding) toward the dependent variable (career choice). The result of this research showed that the value of R = 0.608; F = 49.308, with the value of p < 0.001, and R2 = 0.370. Based on the result of this research, the proposed hypothesis could be accepted. Career adaptability and personal branding could predict individuals’ fitness of career choice. The effective contribution from both independent variables was 37%, whilst the effective partial contribution of career adaptability was 2.2%, whilst personal branding partially contributed 34.78%.
