PRODUKSI KARKAS DAN NON KARKAS KELINCI REX JANTAN PADA BERBAGAI UMUR PEMOTONGAN

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui produksi karkas dan non karkas kelinci Rex jantan pada umur pemotongan yang berbeda. Penelitian menggunakan 18 ekor kelinci Rex jantan berumur 1 bulan yang dibagi dalam 3 kelompok umur pemotongan yaitu 4, 5, dan 6 bulan. Kelinci dipelihara di dalam kandang individu berukuran 90x60x60 cm kubik. Kelinci diberi konsentrat komersial secara ad libitum pada pukul 08.00 sampai 17.00 WIB dan jerami kacang tanah secara ad libitum pada pukul 17.00 sampai 08.00 WIB. Kelinci dipotong setelah mencapai umur potong sesuai kelompoknya. Penyembelihan dilakukan dengan memotong arteri carotis, vena jugularis, trachea, dan oesophagus kemudian dilanjutkan dengan pemisahan bagian karkas dan non karkas. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analisis variansi pola searah. Khusus untuk pertambahan bobot badan harian dianalisis menggunakan analisis kovariansi dengan bobot awal sebagai kovariat. Apabila terdapat perbedaan, dilanjutkan dengan uji Least Significant Different. Bobot potong, persentase karkas, dan Meat Bone Ratio (MBR) pada umur pemotongan 4, 5, dan 6 bulan berturut-turut masing-masing adalah 1.630,00plus minus155,05; 2.075,00plus minus74,76; dan 2.123,33plus minus134,41 g, 45,43plus minus1,70; 49,16plus minus2,15; dan 48,72plus minus3,02%, dan 2,73plus minus0,83; 3,10plus minus0,63; dan 4,02plus minus0,52. Bobot Potong dan MBR pada umur pemotongan 6 bulan lebih tinggi (P lebih besar dari 0,05) daripada umur 4 dan 5 bulan, tetapi persentase karkas pada umur pemotongan 5 bulan lebih tinggi (P lebih besar dari 0,05) daripada umur 4 dan 6 bulan. Persentase komponen non karkas pada umur pemotongan 4, 5, dan 6 bulan berturut-turut 36,24plus minus1,90; 35,16plus minus0,92; dan 35,21plus minus1,45. Persentase komponen non karkas pada umur pemotongan 4 bulan lebih tinggi (P lebih besar dari 0,05) daripada umur 5 dan 6 bulan. Disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan umur pemotongan, dari 4 sampai 6 bulan meningkatkan persentase karkas dan MBR serta menurunkan persentase non karkas.

This study was conducted to observe the carcass and non carcass production of male Rex rabbits at different slaughter age. Eighteen heads of one month old male Rex rabbits were used in this study. Animals divided into three groups of slaughter age, i.e 4, 5, and 6 months. They were individually raised in the 90x60x60 cm cubic of cage. They were freely fed with commercial concentrate at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and peanut straw at 5 p.m. until 8 a.m. They were slaughtered when they reached their slaughter age according to their group. The slaughtering was done by cutting the carotid artery, jugular vein, trachea, and oesophagus then, it was continued with carcass and non carcass cutting. The data collected were analyzed by one way analysis of variance. In exception, average daily gain was analyzed by one way analysis of covariance with initial weight as covariate. The analysis continued with Least Significant Different test. The final weight, percentage of carcass, and Meat Bone Ratio (MBR) of male Rex rabbits at 4, 5, and 6 months of slaughter age were 1,630.00plus minus155.05; 2,075.00plus minus74.76; and 2,123.33plus minus134.41 g, 45.43plus minus1.70; 49.16plus minus2.15; and 48.72plus minus3.02%, and 2.73plus minus0.83; 3.10plus minus0.63; and 4.02plus minus0.52, respectively. The final weight and MBR of male Rex rabbits at 6 months of slaughter age were higher (P bigger than 0.05) than at 4 and 5 months, but the percentage of carcass at 5 months of slaughter age were higher (P bigger than 0.05) than at 4 and 6 months. The percentage of non carcass component at 4, 5, and 6 months of slaughter age were 36.24plus minus1.90, 35.16plus minus0.92, dan 35.21plus minus1.45, respectively. The percentage of non carcass component at 4 months of slaughter age were higher (P bigger than 0.05) than at 5 and 6 months. It is concluded that the increasing of slaughter age from 4 to 6 months increases the carcass percentage and MBR, and also decreases non carcass percentage.
