KOLONISASI SEBAGAI POLITIK KOLONIALISASI BELANDA DI INDONESIA, 1905-1940

Masalah kebijakan kolonisasi itu dijadikan tema pokok penelitian ini adalah bertujuan untuk mengetahui salah satu bagian dari politik kolonialisasi Belanda di Hindia Belanda di jaman emperliasme modern pada paroh pertama abad ke-20. Oleh karena sampai saat ini belum ada satupun peneliti sejarah dan ilmu sosial lainya yang meneliti tentang kolonisasi sebagai kebijakan politik di Hindia Belanda. Pada tahun 1905, Belanda mulai memberlakukan kebijakan kolonisasi di Hindia Belanda. Kebijakan itu merupakan suatu implementasi dari salah satu program politik etis, yaitu: emigrasi yang dicanangkan oleh Belanda pada tahun 1901, yang secara implisit akan digunakan untuk kesejahteraan penduduk bumiputera Hindia Belanda. Kolonisasi itu kemudian dipolitisasi oleh pemerintah Belanda, yang berkonspirasi dengan para pemilik modal swasta (kapitalis), untuk tetap dapat mengeksploitasi sumber daya alam dan tenaga kerja di Hindia Belanda. Oleh karena, masalah penelitian ini telah terjadi di masa lampau, maka bahan-bahan arsip kolonial Belanda, buku, jurnal, dan surat kabar yang terkait dengan tema penelitian ini digunakan sebagai sumber dalam disertasi ini; dan analisis penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah kritis agar dapat diperoleh rekonstruksi sejarah kolonisasi yang mendekati dengan kebenaran. Sebagai kesimpulan, kolonisasi di Hindia Belanda itu merupakan ambisi dan cerminan politik kolonial Belanda yang gagal untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan penduduk bumiputera Hindia Belanda, dan bahkan hanya sekedar untuk menciptakan tenaga kerja atau kuli-kuli perkebunan di Luar Jawa.

The main theme addressed in this research is the problem of colonization. The aim of this study is to discover one important part of the Dutch colonial politics implemented in the Dutch East Indies during the era of modern imperialism in the first half of the 20th century. To day there have been no previous studies by scholars in the field of history or other social sciences that examine colonization as a political policy in the Dutch East Indies. The problem discussed in this research is one which occurred in the past, and for this reason, archival materials, books,journals, and newspapers related to the theme of the research are used as sources for this dissertation. The research analysis uses a critical historical method in order to obtain a reconstruction of the political history of colonization that is close to the truth. In 1905, the Dutch began to impose a colonization policy in the Dutch East Indies. This policy was the implementation of one of the governments ethical political programs, namely: emigration,which was proclaimed by the Dutch in 1901 and was implicitly to be used for the welfare of the natives in the Dutch East Indies. This colonization policy was then politicized by the Dutch government,which conspired with private capitalists to continue exploiting natural resources and labour in the Dutch East Indies. In conclusion, the colonization of the Dutch East Indies was a reflection of the ambition of Dutch colonial politics that failed to improve the welfare of the natives, and instead did little more than create a workforce for the indentured labour of plantations outside Java.
