FAKTA-FAKTA CERITA DAN TEMA NOVEL HUJAN BULAN JUNI KARYA SAPARDI DJOKO DAMONO: ANALISIS STRUKTUR NOVEL MODEL ROBERT STANTON

Objek material penelitian ini adalah novel Hujan Bulan Juni karya Sapardi Djoko Damono. Objek formal penelitian ini adalah teori struktur novel model Robert Stanton. Penelitian ini akan menjawab tiga rumusan masalah. Pertama, menjelaskan fakta-fakta cerita yang meliputi alur, latar, dan tokoh. Kedua, menjelaskan tema yang mendasari cerita dalam novel Hujan Bulan Juni. Ketiga, menjelaskan hubungan antarunsur (fakta-fakta cerita dan tema) novel Hujan Bulan Juni. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa alur dalam novel ini ialah alur campuran. Hal ini terlihat adanya flashback dan arus lurus pada peristiwa-peristiwa di dalam cerita. Flashback terjadi di pertengahan cerita. Pergerakan alur dalam novel ini dipengaruhi oleh latar terjadinya peristiwa dan konflik antartokoh. Latar dalam novel ini terbangun menjadi latar mayoritas dan minoritas. Tokoh-tokoh dalam novel ini dibedakan menjadi dua, yaitu tokoh utama dan tokoh bawahan. Tokoh utama dalam novel ini adalah Sarwono dan Pingkan. Tokoh bawahan dalam novel ini dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi dua bagian, yaitu tokoh bawahan dominan dan tokoh bawahan tidak dominan. Tokoh dominan dalam novel ini adalah Toar, Budiman, Ibu Pelenkahu (Hartini), Tante Henny, Benny, Pak Hadi, Ibu Hadi, Katsuo, dan Ahmad. Tokoh bawahan yang tidak dominan adalah Tante Keke, Tante Wenas, Pak Tumbelaka, Hayati, pegawai hotel, Eyang Tirto, Pak Bei, Dewi, Mahasiswa, Kiai Slamet, Pak Hans, Mbok Dromo, dokter, pak sopir, tukang becak, Pak Tomasoa dan Dr. Farid. Kehadiran tokoh bawahan dapat memperkuat karakter tokoh utama. Tokoh bawahan juga dapat membuat ketegangan dalam cerita. Tema utama dalam novel ini adalah perjuangan cinta Sarwono dan Pingkan terhalang banyak permasalahan sehingga mereka gagal untuk menikah. Tema bawahan dalam novel ini di antaranya adalah pertama, perbedaan keyakinan berdampak pada perubahan sikap seseorang. Kedua, hambatan kisah percintaan dua sejoli disebabkan oleh pihak lain. Ketiga, percakapan picisan dua orang membuatnya saling mencintai. Keempat, perbedaan suku dapat memengaruhi sikap dan perilaku orang lain. Dengan melakukan analisis struktur novel Hujan Bulan Juni maka dapat ditemukan adanya unsur-unsur yang saling berhubungan erat membentuk kesatuan cerita.

The material object of this research is the Hujan Bulan Juni novel by Sapardi Djoko Damono. The formal object in this study is Robert Stanton's theory of the novel structure. This research will answer three problems. First, it explains the facts of the story that includes the plot, the background, and the character. Second, it explains the underlying theme of the story in the Hujan Bulan Juni novel. Third, it explains the relationship between elements (story facts and themes) of Hujan Bulan Juni novel. The result shows that the plot in this novel is a mixed plot. This happens because there are flashback and a progressive plot on the events of the story. Fashback happens in the middle of the story. The movement of the plot in this novel is influenced by the background of events and conflicts between the characters. The setting in this novel is built into a major and minor setting. The characters in this novel are divided into two, namely the main characters and subordinate characters. The main characters in this novel are Sarwono and Pingkan. Subordinate characters in this novel can be clarified into two parts, namely the dominant subordinate characters and subordinate characters that are not dominant. The dominant characters in this novel are Toar, Budiman, Mother Pelenkahu (Hartini), Aunt Henny, Benny, Sir Hadi, Sir Hadi, Katsuo, and Ahmad. The subordinate characters that are not dominant are Aunt Keke, Aunt Wenas, Tumbelaka, Hayati, Hotel Officer, Eyang Tirto, Sir Bei, Dewi, student, Kiai Slamet, Sir Hans, Grendma Dromo, doctor, driver, Pedicab driver, Sir Tomasoa and Dr. Farid. The existence of subordinate characters can strengthen the complexity of the main characters. Subordinate characters can also create tension in the story. The main theme of this novel is the love struggle between Sarwono and Pingkan which is hindered by many problems. The subordinate themes of this novel are, first, the differences in beliefs make an impact on the change of one's attitude. Second, the hinderance to the romance of two person caused by others. Third, a lousy conversation of two people who make they love each other. Fourth, the ethnic group differences can affect the attitudes and behaviors of others. By analyzing the structure of Hujan Bulan Juni novel, it can be found that the elements closely interconnected forms the unity of the story.
