China’s continuous aggressive efforts to assert its influence in East Asia have caused insecurities which led to the rise of military activities in the region. Countries like Japan and South Korea highly opposed this decision and perceived it as reckless and unnecessary. With this maneuver China has disturbed the stability and the unity of the security interdependence and relations in East Asia. It has attracted different response from countries all around the region. This research uses two concepts to better understand the issue. The first is “security dilemma,” which is used to explain the rise of military in East Asia as response to China. With growing insecurities among neighbors, East Asian countries responded to China’s policy with increasing military capabilities as defense mechanism. Second, Barry Buzan’s “Regional Security Complex Theory” is to provide clear insight on the importance of regional security, what makes regional security, and how China’s ADIZ disturbed the security mechanism in the region. Keywords: China, ADIZ, Senkaku/Diayou disputes, regional security
