Barbie & Feminisme : Studi Semiotik Film Barbie And The Magic of Pegasus sebagai Representasi Feminisme Eksistensialis.

ABSTRACT Films as a mass media have a big strength on constructing social reality. There are many genre and technique on film. Animation film is one of them. At its beginning, animation film often correlated with kids but now it is not just limited to them. That is why it is interesting to see how the concept of feminism is drawn in animation film. The film “Barbie and The Magic of Pegasus” is a film with a kingdom nuance. Like any other common Barbie film, the main character of this film is a woman named Barbie. Barbie plays as princess Anika. In this film, Anika tries to reach her existence as a human. In this research, writer uses qualitative methods as a way to analyze this film. This research tries to understand how the film presents existentialist feminism. Analysis technique used in this research is semiotic analysis by Roland Bathers. This method is believed fit because Bathers gives a wider understanding of sign. The results of this research indicate that the film “Barbie and The Magic of Pegasus” has a feminism aspects reflected from the struggle of the main character. With existentialist feminism, Anika tries to fight for hers existence.
