Studi Resepsi Audiens atas Komedi Slapstick dalam Kartun Animasi Shaun The Sheep

ABSTRACT The dynamics of audience has shown significant developments in the situation. This progression requires a depth understanding concept of audience. In 2011, animated cartoons Shaun The Sheep into the realm of public television in Indonesia. Cartoon content includes a new genre for the development of cartoon shows in Indonesia, namely cartoons mute or no dialogue between characters in it. In fact, the cartoon scene indicated rude or contains slapstick comedy. Slapstick comedy is comedy that is dominated by violence. That reality drives researchers sought to explore how contemporary audiences create meaning about the content of the cartoons that are popular. Shaun The Sheep could occupy the highest rating for the Top 5 Programs in Indonesia (AGB Nielsen version). In addition, MNC TV as a national public television has replaced audience segmentation of Shaun The Sheep from children into families. Segmentation of these families will be explored the audiencebackground. Personal attributes as according to McQuail (1997), age is one of the great attributes that contribute to the selection process run by the audience. Age outlined in the family, the children, teens, and parents then became the basis for researchers to choose research informants. Analysis reception chosen as the research method because it is in the middle between media texts and audience. The reading audience for media texts in social and cultural context will be explored in more depth through the method of reception. The study was conducted to explore the opinions, emotions, expressions, and other data sources based on social and cultural background of the audience. The data collection process using in-depth interviews and direct observation. The study was conducted by using a marker of slapstick comedy to help dig deeper into slapstick comedy. Meaning audience to marker of slapstick comedy unloaded using practice reception andit done in three stages. There are the context of the use of the media, the process of decoding or textual interpretation of media content, and how audiences use media content in a social context. xiv Therefore, the results of the study are expected to know, understand, and describe the extent to which audiences create meaning differences in the reception slapstick comedy in animated cartoons Shaun The Sheep. In addition, audience reception to describe the scenes of violence in animated cartoons Shaun The Sheep. xv
