Thaksin Sinawatra was one of phenomenal leaders in Thailand. Eventhough he was overthrown by military, parliament, and some of the people, with his era of leadership which was not close to 6 years, Thaksin showed his capability of influencing towards Thai politics, even up to more than 5 years after the fall of his premiership. Thaksin was able to build a strong mass base through his populist policies during his rule. The political trends of the post-coup Thailand in 2006 still shows a strong pattern which can not be separated from the image or figure of Thaksin. Various protests are fueled by red-shirt mass and the elected people who still have close relations with Thaksin, as Samak Sundaravej, Somchai Wongsawat, and his sister, Yingluck Sinawatra as the Prime Minister of Thailand in 2011, had strongly argued that the influence of Thaksin politics until now on is still strong in Thai politics arena.
