Flouting and Violating of Grice's Maxims in The Flash Series Done by The main Character

Penelitian ini mengkaji flouting dan violating maksim Prinsip Kerjasama yang dikemukakan oleh Grice pada ujaran yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama dalam serial televisi The Flash. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan Pragmatik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan jenis flouting dan violating maksim, menjelaskan cara tokoh utama melakukan flouting atau violating maksim, dan mengetahui topik pembicaraan yang terjadi antara tokoh utama dengan kelompok yang mengetahui rahasianya (A) dan kelompok yang tidak mengetahui rahasianya. Hasil analisa menunjukkan dari 40 data yang diambil, 34 ujaran flout maksim dan 6 ujaran violate maksim. Selain itu, sebagian besar flouting terjadi pada kelompok A dan sebagian besar violating terjadi pada kelompok B. Hasil analisa juga menunjukkan bahwa tokoh utama membahas mengenai tindakan kepahlawanan dan metode untuk mengendalikan kekuatannya ketika berbicara dengan kelompok A. Sementara itu, pemeran utama membahas tentang pekerjaan dan keseharian saat berbicara dengan kelompok B, dan dia selalu menghindari topik pembahasan pada sesuatu yang dapat membongkar rahasianya.

This research discusses the flouting and violating of Grice’s Cooperative Principle maxims in the utterances of the main character in a television series The Flash. This study is presented within the framework of pragmatics. The goals of this study are to describe the types of flouting and violating, explain the way the main character flouts or violates the maxims and learn the topic of conversation that happens between the main character with the group who knows the secret (A) and the group who does not know (B). The result of the analysis shows from 40 data found, 34 of the utterances flout the maxims and 6 of the utterances violate the maxims. Moreover, most of the floutings are occur in group A, while the violating occur more in group B. The result also shows that the main character speaks with group A to discuss on hero acts and the method to control his power. Meanwhile, the main character discusses about work and casual topics when he speaks with group B, and he always avoids talking about something which leads to his secret.
