PENGARUH PENDIDIKAN TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI INDONESIA PERIODE 1980 HINGGA 2014

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pendidikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia periode 1980 hingga 2014. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Ordinary Least Square (OLS) dengan menggunakan data time series. Keuntungan metode ini adalah dapat mengetahui trend jangka panjang antara hubungan pendidikan dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi. Dalam penelitian ini pendidikan merupakan faktor utama sedangkan pengeluaran pemerintah untuk pendidikan, fertilitas, inflasi, dan keterbukaan ekonomi merupakan variabel kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tahap awal pendidikan akan berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi namun, pada tahap selanjutnya pendidikan akan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi. Selanjutnya, untuk variabel kontrol pengeluaran pemerintah untuk pendidikan dan tingkat keterbukaan ekonomi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi. Sedangkan tingkat fertilitas dan inflasi berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan.

This research aimed to analyze the influence of education on economic growth in Indonesia during the period 1980 to 2014. The method used was Ordinary Least Square (OLS) using time series data. The advantage of this method is that it can determine the long-term trend of the relationship between education and economic growth. In this research, education is a major factor while government spending on education, fertility, inflation, and level of economic openness are the control variable. The results showed that in the early stages, education will have significant and negative effect on economic growth but, in the later stages, education will have positive and significant effect on economic growth. Furthermore, for variable control, government spending on education and the level of economic openness have positive and significant effect on economic growth. While the fertility and inflation rate have significant and negative effect.
