Praktik Kerja Lapangan ini berfokus pada hasil penerapan sistem otomasi kearsipan Rail Document System di PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 6 Yogyakarta. Untuk menunjang efektifitas kerja, Unit Dokumen memberlakukan program Rail Document System (RDS) sebagai sarana persuratan elektonik baik internal maupun eksternal di lingkungan PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), maupun sebagai sarana temu balik arsip. Penulisan Tugas Akhir ini menggunakan tiga metode yaitu, metode observasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Hasil dari penerapan Rail Document System ditunjukkan dengan sebagaimana pelayanan pengurusan surat yang efektif dan efisien. Sampai saat ini, RDS telah melakukan update untuk kedua kali dengan tambahan fitur dan funsi yang lebih kompleks untuk membantu proses administrasi PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). Kesimpulan dari Tugas Akhir ini melingkupi keberhasilan metode pengganti persuratan elektronik dan memberikan pelayanan persuratan yang baik. Rail Document System telah membantu proses berjalannya kegiatan administrasi yang mumpuni di bidang persuratan, dan memberikan keefektifitasan kerja dalam hal penyajian data atau informasinya.

The practice of field work is focused on the results of the application of the system of automation of archival Rail Document System at PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 6 Yogyakarta. To support the effectiveness of work, the enforces Document�s Unit program Rail Document System (RDS) as a means of correspondence by electronic group in both internal and external environment of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or as a means of inventiveness behind the archive. Writing this final project using three methods i.e., method of observation, interview, and the study of the literature. The result of the application of the Rail Document System is shown in the Document as a mail management services effectively and efficiently. Until recently, RDS has been doing updates for both times with additional features and the more complex administrative process to help PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). The conclusions of this research is the success of electronic correspondence replacement method and provide a good correspondence. The Rail Document System has helped the process of the passage of the administrative activities that are capable of in the field of study, and gives the efficiency of work in terms of the presentation of the data or information.
