VISUALISASI DATA TITIK, GARIS, DAN LUASAN DALAM BENTUK PETA DENGAN SIMBOL TIPOGRAFI (Studi Kasus: Kota Mataram, Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat)

Simbol tipografi hadir sebagai salah satu inovasi untuk memvisualisasikan data dalam bentuk peta. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1)menyajikan data titik, garis, dan luasan dalam bentuk peta dengan simbol tipografi, (2)melakukan penilaian responden terhadap penggunaan simbol tipografi untuk data titik, garis, dan luasan dibandingkan dengan simbol konvensional. Mataram merupakan salah satu kota di Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat yang letaknya berbatasan langsung dengan Selat Lombok. Data yang digunakan ialah sebaran sekolah SMA/SMK Negeri di Kota Mataram, jaringan jalan tahun 2015 dan administrasi. Sebaran sekolah digunakan untuk mewakili data titik, kemudian jaringan jalan untuk mewakili data garis, dan administrasi untuk mewakili data luasan. Metode yang digunakan ialah survey untuk mendapatkan penilaian responden yaitu melalui wawancara indepth interview dengan bantuan kuisioner. Penelitian ini berhasil membuktikan jika data titik, garis, dan area dapat divisualisasikan menggunakan simbol tipografi dalam bentuk peta. Sementara berdasarkan hasil analisis diketahui jika responden cenderung memilih peta simbol konvensional dibandingkan peta simbol tipografi dari segi tampilan maupun kemudahan pembacaan informasi peta. Hal ini disebabkan penggunaan simbol tipografi pada suatu peta masih jarang ditemukan sehingga responden belum familiar terhadap simbol tersebut. Hasil penilaian responden menunjukkan jika diantara data titik, garis, dan luasan yang dianggap paling sesuai divisualisasikan menggunakan simbol tipografi ialah data garis.

Symbol typography present as one of the innovations to visualize the data in map form. The purpose of this study were (1) the present data point, line, and area in the form of a map with symbols typography, (2) conduct an assessment of respondents to use typographic symbols for a data point, line, and area compared to the conventional symbols. Mataram is a city in the province of West Nusa Tenggara directly bordering the Lombok Strait. The data used is the distribution of SMA / SMK Mataram city, the road network in 2015 and the administration. Distribution of school are used to represent the data points, then the road network to represent data lines, and administration to represent the data extents. The method used was a survey to get an assessment of the respondents, through interviews in depth interview with the help of a questionnaire. This study was able to prove if the data points, lines, and areas can be visualized using typographic symbols in the form of a map. While based on the results of analysis if respondents tend to choose a map symbol than conventional map symbols typography in terms of appearance and readability of map information. This is due to the use of typographical symbols on a map still rarely found that the respondents are not familiar to the symbol. Results of votes among respondents indicate if the data points, lines, and areas considered most appropriate visualized using typographic symbol is the data line.
