UTILISASI OFFICE BUSINESS APPLICATIONS (OBA) SEBAGAI SOLUSI PRODUKTIVITAS SISTEM RETAIL KOMPUTER

Sebuah perusahaan harus mempunyai dukungan berupa sistem pendukung produktivitas untuk meningkatkan performa bisnisnya. Hal ini diperoleh dengan cara pemasangan sistem automasi, seperti CRM dan SCM. Ketidakefektifan yang ditimbulkan oleh sistem automasi ini dapat berupa dukungan yang terbatas. Dukungan hanya diberikan kepada relasi antara entitas internal dengan eksternal perusahaan. Sistem automasi tersebut tidak memberikan dukungan antar entitas internal perusahaan, sehingga redundansi kegiatan bisnis sering terjadi. Kegiatan bisnis yang sering terjadi redundansi ini menyebabkan data-data yang ada di dalamnya menjadi tidak konsisten, yang kemudian akan membuat keseluruhan sistem berjalan lambat dan tidak efisien. Penelitian ini memetakan kembali sistem lama dalam sebuah perusahaan retail komputer dan mengembangkan sistem baru menggunakan teknologi Applications for Office, dengan mengkombinasikannya menggunakan teknologi dari cloud database. Kedua teknologi ini disebut dengan Microsoft OBA. Pemetaan diawali dengan cara mengidentifikasi permasalahan yang ada berupa fitur-fitur, yang digunakan sebagai referensi sistem baru. Fitur-fitur tersebut diimplementasikan ke dalam teknologi Microsoft OBA menggunakan teknik pengembangan Agile Development. Agile Development memungkinkan pengembangan aplikasi dilakukan dengan berfokus pada fitur-fitur yang penting dan kritis pada sistem. Teknik pengembangan ini juga memetakan fitur dari bentuk umum ke dalam bentuk spesifik untuk kemudahan implementasi pada sistem. Dokumentasi kode di dalam teknik ini dilakukan dengan langkah-langkah logika yang pasti, seperti spesifikasi dan desain logika dengan pseudocode, untuk mencapai sebuah tujuan pada fitur tertentu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknologi Microsoft OBA memiliki titik berat pada pengintegrasian dokumen tidak terstruktur dengan data terstruktur, yang menjadi tantangan terbaru bagi pengembang aplikasi dan menjadi inovasi baru untuk meningkatkan produktivitas kerja. Pengimplementasian aplikasi yang berbasis Microsoft OBA ini meningkatkan keefisienan dengan total sebesar 26% pada proses bisnis. Microsoft OBA ini juga bergantung secara penuh pada koneksi internet, sehingga keefisienan yang dihasilkan semakin besar apabila koneksi internet yang ada memiliki kecepatan tinggi, tetapi aplikasi dapat menjadi kurang responsif jika koneksi internet yang disediakan memiliki kecepatan yang rendah. Kemudahan pemindahan dan menyimpan data ke sistem lain juga menjadi titik berat keuntungan utama yang dihasilkan dari pengimplementasian Microsoft OBA.

A running large-scale business must have productivity-supporting systems, so that excellent business performance can be reached. This can be obtained by installing automation systems, such as CRM and SCM. Although these are called “automation systems”, there are many boundaries in their implementation into a real business process. All of supports the systems give to users are inter-entity relationships, and many of intra-entity relationships are not supported by these systems, such as the relationship between people related within the company itself. The consequence is there are many redundancies in business activities and many of them, which are significant to business process, are neglected. Redundancies that is frequently happened in the system, may cause data within the system for becoming inconsistent and this will lead to a inefficient and unresponsive system. This research remaps old systems used by a computer retail company and develops new systems based on composite application between Applications for Office and cloud database. This composite application is called Microsoft OBA. Remapping process will be started at first by identifying problems exist in the company. The problems are presented as list of features and used as reference in new systems’ development. All of the features in the list are developed using Agile Development technique. Agile Development enables development to be focused on the most important and critical features in the system. This development technique also maps features from the most general into the most specific model for implementation easiness in the system. This research shows that Microsoft OBA development emphasizes in non-structured document and structured data integration, which creates new challenge for application developers and becomes the new innovation breakthrough for enhancing productivity. By implementing applications based on Microsoft OBA, this research also shows that level of efficiency increases by 26% in the business process. This efficiency level also depends wholly on the internet connection speed. Efficiency level will increase to the maximum level, if the current internet connection gets to its fastest speed, but also will decrease if the provided internet connection is facing some problems that cause the connection speed to slow down. Transferring and backing up data among many systems in the company are also the prominent main benefits resulted from implementing Microsoft OBA in the business processes.
