PROFILE OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT ON EXCLUSIVELY BREASTFED CHILDREN AGED 7 TO 36 MONTHS IN YOGYAKARTA

Latar Belakang ASI mengandung banyak nutrisi penting untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak. Berbagai artikel telah melaporkan bagaimana bayi yang menerima ASI eksklusif menunjukan perkembangan yang lebih baik. Namun, ketersediaan sumber literatur mengenai pengaruh ASI eksklusif terhadap perkembangan sosial anak masih minim. Selain itu, menurut Depkes (2013) persentase ibu memberikan ASI eksklusif kepada anak-anak mereka di Indonesia masih rendah (sekitar 54,3%); sedangkan untuk DI Yogyakarta adalah 67,9%. Hal ini memicu peneliti melakukan studi tentang masalah ini. Tujuan Untuk menilai profil perkembangan sosial anak-anak usia 7 hingga 36 bulan yang menerima ASI eksklusif. Metode Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif untuk menilai status perkembangan sosial anak-anak yang menerima ASI eksklusif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah anak-anak yang menerima ASI eksklusif berusia antara 7 hingga 36 bulan. Tingkat perkembangan sosial anak akan diukur secara kuantitatif dengan menggunakan alat uji diagnostik, yaitu Vineland Adaptive Behavioral Scale II(VABS II). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara kepada orang tua pengasuh sebagai instrumen utama pengumpulan data (data sekunder). Hasil Dari total 86 peserta, 79 dari subjek dikategorikan ke dalam perkembangan sosial baik (92%), sedangkan 7 yang lain masuk dalam kategori perkembangan sosial buruk(8%). Kesimpulan Anak-anak berusia 7-36 bulan yang menerima ASI eksklusif memiliki status perkembangan sosial yang baik. Dan seiring dengan bertambahnya usia, kemampuan perkembangan sosial seorang anak akan menjadi semakin meningkat dan bertambah kompleks. Pengeluaran bulanan yang mencerminkan status sosial ekonomi keluarga dapat mempengaruhi status perkembangan sosial anak-anak. Latar belakang pendidikan pengasuh tidak mempengaruhi perkembangan sosial anak. Berat lahir dan usia kehamilan tidak mempengaruhi perkembangan sosial anak. Background Breastmilk contains numerous important nutrients for child’s growth and development. Various articles have reported how infants that receive exclusive breastfeeding promotes better development. However, there is still lacking of resources about the social development status of infants who received exclusive breastfeeding. In addition, according to Depkes (2013) the percentage of mother giving exclusive breastfeeding to their children in Indonesia is still low (about 54,3%); while for DI Yogyakarta is 67,9%. This triggers the researcher to perform study about this problem. Objective To assess social development profile in exclusively breastfed children age 7 to 36 months old. Methods The method used in this research is descriptive study to assess the social developmental status of children who receive exclusive breastfeeding. Subjects of this study are children who received exclusive breastfeeding aged between 7 to 36 months old. The social development level will be quantitatively measured using a developmental diagnostic tool, which is Vineland Behavior Scale (VABS) II. Data collection for this study will be conducted using interviews to the parents of caregiver as the main data gathering instrument (secondary data). Result From the total 86 participants, 79 of them score good social development (92%), while the remaining 7 subjects (8%) score poor social development. Conclusion Children aged 7-36 months who received exclusive breastfeeding have good social development status. The more advanced or mature the age, social development become more increased and complex. Monthly expenditure which reflect socioeconomic status of the family affect social development status of the children. Caregiver’s educational background does not affect children social development.
