Kaum Muda Online : Aktivitas Posting dan Sharing Facebook Mahasiswa Fisipol UGM

Berawal dari maraknya globalisasi yang diiringi dengan perkembagan teknologi internet yang menciptakan fenomena virtualitas. Pergeseran realitas sosial dari offline menuju online yang juga didukung dengan munculnya berbagai media sosial. Salah satu media sosial yang populer adalah Facebook. Berbicara mengenai Facebook tentu berkaitan erat dengan kaum muda, dimana mayoritas pengguna Facebook berada dalam rentang usia mahasiswa yaitu, 18-24 tahun. Maka menjadi menarik untuk melihat Facebooking yang dilakukan oleh para mahasiswa terkait isu-isu dunia kampus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat tindakan online yang dilakukan mahasiswa dalam menanggapi berbagai isu terkait dunia kampus. Kemudian mengeahui apakah tindakan online yang dilakukan para mahasiswa tersebut bisa berujung pada tindakan offline. Selain itu penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk melihat kegunaan Facebook dalam meningkatkan produktivitas kegiatan perkuliahan mahasiswa Fisipol. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan strategi penelitian online fenomenologi. Metode pengumpulan data yang dilaukan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi online dan wawancara mendalam terhadap dua belas perwakilan mahasiswa Fisipol yang aktif dalam melakukan posting dan sharing Facebook selama tiga bulan terakhir. Pada penelitian ini terlihat bahwa terdapat Sembilan isu yang menjadi sorotan mahasiswa Fisipol yang menjadi perbincangan di dalam Facebook. Namun terdapat satu isu yang menjadi fokus utama yaitu, isu terkait biaya pemungutan KKN UGM 2016. Selain itu, Facebook juga memilki dampak dalam kegiatan perkuliahan, eksistensi diri, dan mempegaruhi tindakan offline. Facebook masih popular di kalangan mahasiswa terlihat dari penggunaan Facebook dalam merespon berbagai isu terkait dunia kampus yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa. Terlihat bahwa isu-isu yang menjadi fokus dari Facebooking mahasiswa lebih mengarah pada aktivisme. Penelitian ini juga membuktikan bahwa tindakan online dan offline saling mendukung dan tidak ada sekat yang jelas antara offline dan online.

Starting from the growing of globalization followed by the development of internet technology which creates phenomenon of virtuality, the shift of social reality from offline toward online which is also supported by the emergence of many kinds of social media. One of populer social media is Facebook. Talking about Facebook of course relates to youth, in which majority of Facebook users are in the range of university student age which is 18-24 years old. Therefore, it becomes interesting to view Facebooking conducted by the students related to issues around the campus world. This research aimed at viewing the online actions conducted by the university students in respondinng issues related to campus world. Then, it also aimed at knowing whether the online actions conducted by the students can be ended in the offline actions. In addition, this research also aimed at viewing the benefits of Facebook in increasing the productivity of lecturing activities of the students of Fisipol (Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik/Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. This research was a qualitative research with the research strategy was online phenomenology. The method of data collection conducted in this research was an online observation and in-depth interview to twenty representatives of students of Fisipol who were active in conducting Facebook posting and sharing during three last months. In this research, it was seen that there were nine issues which attracted attention from the students of Fisipol that became discussion on Facebook. Nevertheless, there was one issue that became the main focus, that was issue related to the retribution cost of KKN UGM 2016 (field work of Gadjah Mada University 2016). Besides, Facebook also had effects in the lecturing activities, self-existence, and influenced the offline actions. Facebook is still popular in the student soriety that can be seen from the use of Facebook in responding issues related to the campus world conducted by the students. It was seen that the issues which became the focus of students� Facebooking tended to lead to activism. This research also proved that the online and offline actions supported one another and there was no clear partition between offline and online.
