NOVEL AMBA KARYA LAKSMI PAMUNTJAK KAJIAN RESPONS ESTETIK WOLFGANG ISER

Di dunia kesusastraan Indonesia, lahir beberapa karya sastra baru dengan menggunakan latar belakang sejarah seputar peristiwa 1965. Fenomena yang menarik adalah penggunaan latar belakang sejarah tidak serta merta mengacu pada versi Orde Baru yang selalu menyudutkan PKI. Salah satu diantaranya adalah novel Amba karya Laksmi Pamuntjak. Di antara karya sejenisnya, novel yang terbit pada tahun 2012 ini, lebih mendalam dan kompleks dalam menggambarkan peristiwa sejarah 65, tidak hanya berkutat pada peristiwa G30S. Selain itu, cara pengisahannya pun unik, yaitu memadukan realitas sejarah dengan kisah epos Mahabharata dan sosial-budaya Jawa yang melingkupinya. Berdasarkan fenomena di atas, dapat dilihat bahwa novel Amba cukup lengkap menghadirkan keseluruhan konvensi-konvensi terseleksi yang disebut Iser sebagai repertoire. Hal ini tentunya juga menunjukkan bahwa, novel Amba memiliki cukup banyak efek pengundang respons (berupa objek estetik) yang menarik pembaca untuk meresponsnya. Sehingga sesuai jika dikaji dengan menggunakan teori respon estetik Wolfgang Iser. Teori ini, digunakan untuk memecahkan dua permasalahan penelitian. Pertama, bagaimana penggambaran norma historis, sosialbudaya, dan referensi karya sebelumnya dalam novel Amba. Ke-dua, bagaimana strategi-strategi teks dan makna novel Amba sebagai hasil respons estetik. Penggambaran norma sejarah sebagai repertoire dalam novel yaitu, konflik politik dan pergerakan PKI, diskriminasi warga Tionghoa, pertikaian lahan pertanian, tragedi G30S dan munculnya stikma buruk PKI, penyerbuan Universitas Res Publika, dan kehidupan tapol di Pulau Buru. Norma sosial dan budaya terlihat pada penggambaran keluarga Amba yang tergolong Priyayi Jawa dan memiliki paham Islam Kejawen. Adapun referensi karya sebelumnya terlihat pada penggambaran kisah tokoh Amba, Salwa, dan Bhisma seperti dalam Mahabharata yang dipadukan dengan latar sejarah 1965. Keseluruhan repertoire yang telah ditemukan dalam novel, kemudian digunakan sebagai background untuk menunjukkan foreground yaitu mengungkap pelanggaran HAM yang terjadi selama Orba. Selain itu, struktur tema dan horison digunakan sebagai strategi mengombinasikan repertoire dari dalam. Hal ini bertujuan agar ruang-ruang kosong (objek estetik) di dalam teks dapat dimaknai pembaca secara tepat, sesuai efek-efek yang dimunculkan oleh teks. Hasil respons estetik menunjukkan bahwa novel Amba mengungkap permasalahan HAM, antara lain, tuntutan rehablitasi korban peristiwa 65, tragedi terbunuhnya mahasiswa Trisakti dan kerusuhan Mei, konflik agama di Ambon tahun 1999, dan kasus HAM Munir. Selain itu, Novel Amba mengungkapkan peristiwa seputar sejarah 65 dari sisi kemanusiaan, sekaligus usaha rekonsiliasi sejarah tersebut. Kata Kunci: respons estetik, sejarah 1965, Amba, HAM

Some of the new literary works emerging in Indonesian literature are using the historical background of the 1965 event, an interesting phenomena is does not refers to the version of Orde Baru. Which tend to concern the communist party (PKI) one of them is Amba by Laksmi Pamuntjak. In elaborating the historical background. Amba is more concerned to the humanity of the victims from the 1965 event. The other interesting part is from the unique story which mixing real history with Epos Mahabharata and Javanese social-cultural surround. Based on the above elaboration, we can see that Amba is completely showing the all selected allusion which is called repertoire by Iser. The repertoire contained in Amba, shows the reader that it has a lot of aesthetic objects which is inviting the response of the reader. In this context, the process of reading and the role of the readers become very important. Therefore, this study uses the aesthetic response of Wolfgang Iser. The elaboration of historical norm as repertoire in the novel is classified into the political conflict and the movement of communist party (PKI), the discrimination of Chinese people, the dispute over agricultural land, the crushing of communist party (PKI), the bad stigma of communist party (PKI), the invasion to the Res Publika University, and the oppression of police custody in Buru. The social and cultural norms are seen through the description of the Amba’s family life whom they belong to the Javanese Priyayi, believing in Islam Kejawen, and also carrying out the values of Javanese Wayang in Mahabharata. Moreover, the influence of the previous works are seen though the description of the Amba, Salwa, and Bhisma character, which is coming from the story of Mahabharata combining with the historical background of 1965. Based on the findings repertoire inside the novel, it is then used as the background and foreground which is about revealing the violation of human rights happened during Orde Baru. Beside then, the structure of theme and the horizon is used as the combination strategy of the text through the plot and character. Therefore, the empty spaces inside the text can be interpreted by the readers correctly based on the signals coming from the text. The results of the aesthetic response show that the novel Amba is revealing the violations of human rights the are, rehabilitation of the 65’s victims, the dead of Trisakti students in May riot, the violence event in Ambon 1999, and the dead of Munir. Besides that, Amba also investigates the event of history 65, bases on humanity view as well as an effort to reconciliation of history in the fiction.
