Penelitian ini membahas tentang penggunaan dan penerjemahan les pronoms relatifs yang diawali ce di dalam kalimat berbahasa Prancis. Objek material yang dipakai adalah novel La Peste karya Albert Camus. Teori yang dipakai untuk membedah data adalah teori sintaksis (lebih tepatnya tentang tata bahasa les pronoms relatifs) dan teori terjemahan oleh Catford. Les pronoms relatifs yang diawali ce berfungsi sebagai pengganti subjek atau objek di dalam kalimat, maka peletakannya selalu di depan ataupun di tengah kalimat, dan tidak pernah terletak di akhir kalimat. Les pronoms relatifs yang diawali ce ini dibagi menjadi 2 jenis, yaitu : yang didahului oleh preposisi dan yang tidak didahului preposisi. Penerjemahan les pronoms relatifs yang diawali ce ini bisa disesuaikan dengan konteks wacananya, sedangkan, penerjemahan dominan ke bahasa Indonesia dari ce qui/ce que/ce qu’/ce dont di dalam penelitian ini adalah ‘apa yang’. This study discusses the use and translation of relative pronoun preceded by ce in the French sentence. Material object of this research is Albert Camus's novel, La Peste. The theory used to analyze the data is syntactic theory (particularly on grammar les pronoms relatifs) and the theory of translation by Catford. Relative pronoun preceded by ce serves as a substitute of the subject or object in the sentence. Hence, the placement is always in the front or in the middle of a sentence, and never located at the end of the sentence. Relative pronoun preceded by ce is divided into two types, namely: preceded by a preposition and not preceded by a preposition. Translating relative pronoun preceded by ce can be adapted to the context of the discourse, whereas, the dominant translation to Indonesian of ce qui / ce que / ce qu'/ ce dont on in this study is 'apa yang'.
